CONFESS!!! What did you get yourself for Christmas
Let's face it - you probably didn't get everything you were hoping to get for Christmas and ended up going out and buying something for yourself as 'Well I deserve to get something for myself for Xmas'

Me?

Robert Plant CD Box Set and a new Samsung 19' Flat Screen Monitor (I got it from Best Buy as an open box buy so saved a bit of money).

What did you get yourself for Xmas?

damn, that's a big'un... :P

I bought a 'The Yoga Deck' - it's a bunch of yoga poses on cards - I don't know how a real yoga class is done, or if I'm doing it right, but so far I'm liking it as stretching exercises and the breathing exercises sort put me in a meditative state, so I'm calling it good enough for now...

:)

21. I really paused over an introductory yoga DVD for myself
Kept going back to it on the clearance rack trying to figure out if I'd actually do it. I was thinking it would be some good stretching and relaxation... maybe I'll have to go back and get it.

Anyway, I bought myself a new electric tea kettle. This is my 5th teakettle and my first electric one in 20 years - I am such a ditz I keep burning them up when I walk away and forget I put on the kettle (started the kitchen on fire one year  ) I really like this one! I've always been suspicious that they don't really get the water boiling, and tea needs boiling water, but they do, they really do!

Yay! No more flaming teakettles for me! :bounce: I'm even thinking of putting the fire extinquisher down on the floor next to the stove rather than prominently on top!

39. LOL
I used to burn up teakettles too, so I know exactly what that's like...
I stopped after...two I think, or three. Decided if I kept buying them, I would eventually burn the house down. :eyes:

Be sure to let me know what happens to your electric teakettle when you leave it on and the water all boils away. :) If it doesn't cause a fire or near-fire, I may start thinking about buying one. I rarely drink tea, because of the conflict between boiling water and forgetting I've water on to boil; but I like tea, so would enjoy having a safe means of making it...

:bounce: yay for you and your new tea kettle :bounce:

16. I went a little crazy at DVD Planet
I picked up a whole slew of DVDs, since I have lots of family members who like them. The ones I ended up getting for myself were "The Corporation" which appears to be a documentary about corporatism, and 2 wrestling DVDs, "The Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior"(Warrior has become a hardcore right-winger, and apparently wasn't the WWE's favorite person to work with) and "Forever Hardcore" which is about the history of ECW. Ironically enough, I purchased "Inconvenient Truth" for my dad, and he ended up getting me the same thing! One day this weekend I'm going to have to have a DVD-watching day!

OK, well, I have to admit I started buying presents for myself about two months early. First I bought myself a different iPod (30 gig--the 60 gig was too cumbersome), then a compact DVD player. Two types of graphics software. Then some clothes--maybe about 20 shirts and tops. Some stuff for the house. I think that's about it.

Right now it's a 22" Viewsonic model (2235) - not quite the same quirks as the previous one, just a couple others. But at least with the viewsonic the problems are consistent, and not spotty like on the Gateway...

I wish stores still sold CRTs, but comparing the Viewsonic to the Gateway I'd rather have the Viewsonic... and CRTs are heavier anyway! Imagine a 22" widescreen CRT... Holy hernia, Batman! :hurts:

34. Mr. Tinfoilin and I love to go to Key West (pretty close to where we live now)
and where we used to live long ago. He gave me a gold bracelet with a gold key latching into the word WEST with a tanzanite stone. Very expensive and very sentimental for our favorite get-away place in the world. But I must add, when we lived there decades ago, we were very poor and used to look at the "rich people" vacationing in the fancy hotels, and on our last day living there, he took me out to a fancy hotel and we ordered breakfast on the beach. Well, many moons have passed, and we now can afford to go there regularly. In fact, our business in the upper Keys demands that we go there once a month, and we now stay at the hotel where we ordered the breakfast that once cost us an arm and a leg. So for anyone out there who has doubts that dreams come true...Merry Christmas...it can happen!

55. Yes, tips
I have two.

First, familiarization is a factor in motivation. That was the subject of my M.S. thesis. Anyway, to make this work for you, find others who are into the Bowflex. Even if you have to join a gym for a week or a month, go there and watch and talk. Read about it. Go the Bowflex Web site. See if there are groups on the 'Net where the members use the Bowflex. Learn and observe as much as you can about the Bowflex.

Amazingly, even if you make no conscious attempt to work on the Bowflex, what others have done will pique your curiosity and you will start to work out on it. Maintain those contacts, keep up the exploration, and you will find yourself on a regular schedule with the Bowflex.

Once the benefits set in and you can see what it's done for you, you'll be self-motivated.

The second is--are you ready for this--coffee.

Yeah, coffee.

Just drink some coffee right in front of the Bowflex. Coffee is a drug--a motivational drug. See this link:

http://www.gradschoolstory.com/archives/95/how-to-get-started-on-anything

Good luck!

65. Oh, I treated myself royally!
I got a pair of snowblades (skiboards) and new boots from EBay. A ski helmet, and a new camera lens. Santa was good to me this year!

66. A two cup coffee maker for my desk at the office
A two cup coffee maker for my desk at the office. One may ask, "Now Lantern... what's wrong with the coffee in the bullpen? It looks good. It smells good. So you must be the problem!"

"But no!" I'd retort quickly. You must understand that the morbidly obese guy who sits two desks from me... you know the one-- he picks his nose & belly button all day and examines the "stuffing"... well, ya see-- he never washes his hands and there's this part of me that simply cannot drink from the same pot that he made.

I've got this fixation on personal hygiene.

But it's a really nice coffee maker and I get to make each cup the way I like it, so everyone else can PIKE off, get it???!!!

74. Nothing.
Except the joy of my family being together.
My husband got a job he's been after for six years; so that was present enough.
