Alex Lifeson of Rush in New Year's Eve brawl with Police!
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=529&ncid=529&e=3&u=/ap/20040102/ap_en_mu/people_guitarist_arrested

NAPLES, Fla. - The lead guitarist for the rock band Rush skirmished with sheriff's deputies, spat blood on one and was arrested on New Year's Eve after his son refused to leave the stage at a fancy hotel, authorities said.

Deputies said they had to use a stun gun on 50-year-old Alex Zivojinovich — known on stage as Alex Lifeson — for what they described as drunken, violent behavior at the Naples Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Zivojinovich was still in Collier County jail early Friday. Also arrested were his son Justin Zivojinovich, 33, and his son's wife, Michelle Zivojinovich, 30.

Justin Zivojinovich said deputies broke his father's nose.

Alex, baby, what gives? That's not the behavior of a Canadian Air Force f-16 pilot!

1. Uhh...woah.
THis is the LAST thing I'd ever expect anybody from Rush to do. I thought you guys were a well-behaved bunch of canucks who read Ayn Rand! Que Pasa, Gringo?

3. Maybe he finally just got fed up with Peart's lyrics?
I mean, I love their music (at least Subdivisions and before) but sometimes he could get a little, um, wordy.

As in, 'The Trees'.

4. I love The Trees!
What a cool tune. No other band would write a song using trees as a metaphor for unionization. Or a song like "Manhattan Project."

I noticed Rush got dissed on the VH1 100 Best Hard Rock bands. They were #28, and the only 2 comments were from a guy in Pantera and Sebastian Bach (formally of Skid Row). That was all they could muster? They spent more time on Ted friggin' Nugent, without whom rock would be no different.

I spent hours and hours in my youth learning Geddy Lee's bass parts.

2. Jeez - this is turning out to be a bad millennium for people named Rush
Maybe they should slow down and think about things. Carefully.

Very carefully.
