Why do people wear black to New Year's Eve parties?
Are they mourning something?

1. Black is sexy and they want to go out with a bang?

2. Because the parties are dressy?
Women can fall back on the little black dress and men can wear suits.

Interestingly, I'm wearing black lounge pants, a black hooded jacket, and a gray sweater. :D

3. It's slimming. Food and drink are plentiful, yes?
Black hides things.

4. Cause black is beautiful!
I love black and don't know anyone who doesn't look good in it. It's elegant & classy and always a safe bet. And yes, of course, women love it cause it's slenderizing.

What color would you prefer?

6. I think I must be the only person in the world who doesn't really look good in black. I look much
better in charcoal. True black just isn't flattering on me.

5. Because that's the only color of suit I own?
Makes things simpler, though I do occasionally get mistaken for being a minister or priest:

8. Thanks, but it's from last winter. I walked to the bar that night, and the drunk next to me
kept telling me "sorry, Father," every time he said "fuck."

It was hilarious.

11. No need to call me "Father." "Reverend Redstone" will be just fine.
Even Rev Red, since you're a friend.

12. I believe the orginal Father Mulcahy in the movie version of M*A*S*H
was called Dago Red for the wine that he served at his services.

No particular reason for bringing this up other than I'm a fountain of useless information. :)
