... You'd either be speaking German, or you'd be a lampshade.... |
|
Michael Savage says this often on his show in reference to WWII. I totally understand the speaking German part, but what's up with the lampshade bit? Does anyone know?
Yes, I listen to him on the way home from work... I think he's hilarious!
One day I heard him say, "There's no one in the Republican party I can support... They're all to liberal for me".
I thought I was going to die laughing. :D

Actually, I think the lampshade story has been debunked. There were plenty of other attrocities, of course.

25. No, it was real. Look up Irma Grese and Ilsa Koch |
|
Grese was the second-most senior woman SS member at Belsen, and Koch was the wife of the Buchenwald commandant. Both were all-stops-out psychopaths, and that they had items made from the skin of victims was well-documented.

they made lampshades, soap, hairbrushes and combs, etc., etc., from the skin of dead concentration camp victims, mostly Jews. Nothing at all funny about that, my friend.

he talks about sitting at home with a shotgun and a bible.
Liberals call in all of the time claiming they don't agree with anything he says, but they listen because of the entertainment value.
I only hear about 10 minutes of it on the way home.
Where do you get Weiner from?

29. no - well, maybe (worse things were done, so I can't really say) |

Actually the plan was to use English as the language for the German Reich - I can't find an English article about it, but several old family members I've asked have confirmed it to be true to me.

I can't ask the person who told me the matter any more. At the time I asked him why he could speak perfect (and I mean perfect) English, and he told me that he had learned it during his schooltime, during Nazi Germany. On why he answered that the intention was to use English as the language after the war - I didn't ask any further.
I guess it was because of the delusion that the UK might switch sides.

34. More Hitler's considerable admiration for Britain, I think |
|
The British Empire was still in flower, the Royal Family were still recognisably Volksdeutsche (Battenberg, Saxe-Coburg) at bottom, and the Empire had made English fairly obviously the language of the world future ...at least in the near term.

Ich bin allerdings momentan kaum zurechnungsfähig -> Ich denke ich sehe was Du meinst.
(for the not German speaking folks: she's rightfully objecting to my subject line, and I'm trying to defend myself with tiredness/alcohol consumption),
(English again: An attempt of a defense: Forcing people to learn and use a language is IMHO wrong, but "worse" is the wrong word to compare it to other German atrocities).

I didn't see it as a joke. I found the formulation a little drastic (not to say tasteless), but the truth is that the Germans would have murdered a lot more people given the chance. The complete disregard for human dignity of Nazi Germany is one of the few things all serious historians agree on.

40. Gotta switch to Englisch here... |
|
The trivialization and jingoistic "bash the Germans" mentality, coupled with an incredible ignorance of history and context displayed here has me in :puke: mode. Bottom line... we can all "speculate" about what the Third Reich "might have done" had it not been stopped. My point is the American "FOURTH REICH" is well on its way to making its predecessor look like a weekend Boy Scout outing.
The complete disregard for human dignity of the *regime is also something all clear thinking, well informed people who live in the NOW can agree upon.

17. Two psychopathic women SS members, Irma Grese and Ilsa Koch |
|
(the latter known as 'the she-wolf of the SS' and 'the bitch of Buchenwald') had leather articles made from the skin of female victims.
Grese was hanged in 1945 (at age 22!); Koch was given life imprisonment and committed suicide in the late '60s.

20. I thought that was an Eva Braun myth/truth???? About speaking German |
|
during the early days of the colonies and the US...there was a choice between speaking English or German as the language of business. I have heard people say that if we had chosen German as our language of business we would have supported Hitler...and who knows what the outcome would have been to either WW1 or WW2? Just ponderable???

32. Isn't Weiner/Savage Too Young To Have Served in The Big One? |
|
The only people who could use that point that "liberals" of my generation are less-than-militant when it comes to tyranny are those who served in the US or allied militaries between 1936 (Counting the various Chinese armies) to 1945. Isn't the Savage Weiner way too young to have been in the US armed forces back then?
BTW, was the Savage Weiner ever in the US armed forces?
