9. Brosnan's movies suck
with the exception of Goldeneye, which I enjoyed, his other movies have been absolutely terrible. The most recent one, whatever it was called, was just a standard formulaic Hollywood B-movie shoot-em-up that could have featured Bruce Willis or Steven Segal or anybody. The fact that the hero was called James Bond had no bearing on the content. The wit and charm is gone. I guess its not Brosnan's fault - maybe you could blame the passing of Broccoli - but it isn't fun.

3. My "Other" vote is actually for no one.
All the books have been done. Time to drop the series for a couple decades until it feels less tired.

12. Robson Green
He's a great British actor.. and has that "bad boy" look about him.. People do not know him well, and he would be a great Bond.. Most of the others mentioned have such "stereotypical" careers, that they could not avoid being "Clooney pretending to be Bond" or an american faking the accent..

SoCalDem, you have SUCH great taste in men. A truly unknown and under-rated actor.

17. They got married in the Reckless sequel -- after some complications.
Touching Evil was so damned dark. But Robson was sexy as ever. We don't see enough of him on this side of the pond.

21. Only a Canadian would nominate Red Green!
LOL!!
Come to think of it, Red Green is a perfectly logical choice.
But his gimmicks would be things like invisible ink that you have to hold over the engine of a Ford van in order to read.
"Bond... James Bond, eh?"

20. Rupert Everett
The British actor. Looks the part, could act the part... just don't remember he's homosexual - some straight guys think he's a good actor but don't like the idea of a homo playing a hetero... :eyes:

22. NOT McGregor or Law
They have the same problem as Moore and Brosnan had/have, namely they're not 'tough' enough. Connery set the standard, and played Bond the most faithfully to Fleming's vision. In the books, Bond was far less of a suave sophisticate and more of a bully. Sure, he liked the finer things in life, but in the end was a professional killer. A tough guy, in the classic film noir sense. Sam Spade, not the Scarlet Pimpernel.

But I mostly agree with an earlier post: It's time for the Bond franchise to end. They should bring back Connery for the coda, with a storyline about the aged Bond doing one last job before retirement. Cliche, but it could be well done.

25. TJ Qualls from "The New Guy"
Now that's Bond.

...just kidding!

Seriously, I was thinking Clive Owen, too. Perhaps Ioan Gruffudd of the Hornblower series. A bit young though. After Star Wars, I'd think Ewan McGregor will have had enough of franchises. I'd heard Hugh Jackman mentioned.
