Pollwatch needs to get into the search engines better. Can anyone recommend a service that has worked well for them?

1. Find some online resources that explain how search engines work.

Many of the pros seem to think that meta tags have become virtually insignificant. The better search engines apparently make more use of page content and links - the greater the number of websites that are linked to your page the better. You might also want to create a "gateway page" - sort of an index that links to every page on your site That's a good example of "spider food," something that gives online robots a trail of links to follow.

2. dmoz

the open directory project is at http://dmoz.org they feed most of the major engines. it is easy to register, and i got listed on lots of searches quickly. i think it was a matter of coming to the attention of one of the volunteer editors, tho. they warn it may take a month or more. but i bet some DUer is an editor.
