You know you are from Rhode Island if |
|
You order "coffee milk" not chocolate. (Remember Eclipse Coffee Syrup?)
You order coffee "regular" - don't worry any RI waitress knows what you mean. Coffee, sugar and milk.
You eat Johnny Cakes.
You drink frappes (kinda like a milkshake).
You love "grinders" (hoagies, subs)
You love "steamers" (small clams)
You love stuffed "quahogs" - pronounced KO-HOGS (large hard-shelled clams w/ stuffing)
You understand NY System weiners. (little hot dogs with a gravy, and finely chopped onion and celery salt). Hmmm... miss it
When you shop at a supermarket, you use a cart, not a buggy, not a basket,
You love Del's frozen lemonade.
You order a hamburger w/ the works which means no tomato (relish, mustard, ketchup & onion - that's it)
Ordering tea is hot tea not iced tea (English-style w/ milk and sugar).
When your car hits another car, it's called an accident, not a wreck.
Any other original Rhode Islanders here? Originally from Newport.
Like to hear more of some regional talk.
