Okay, Lounge Lizards, what will you have to drink? We have virtually anything (and I do mean "virtually"!) and it's all on Mattcom's tab anyway....
Karaoke in the corner, keep it down unless it's something Irish...feel free to air your gripes and growls, and jump in with sympathy (think "Cheers!" and we'll be okay)

Now, what'll ya have?

1. I'm off the sauce for a while but
I'll have a giant chocolate milkshake, and I'll pretend you put Kahlua in it.

25. Ah, Maeve. A wee bit of song for ye.
Black Velvet Band
by ?
Chorus:
Her eyes they shone like the diamonds
You'd think she was queen of the land
And her hair hung over her shoulder
Tied up with a black velvet band.

In a neat little town they call Belfast
Apprenticed to trade I was bound
And many an hour's sweet happiness
I spent in that neat little town.
Till bad misfortune came o'er me
That caused me to stray from the land
Far away from my friends and relations
To follow the black velvet band.

Well, I was out strolling one evening
Not meaning to go very far
When I met with a pretty young damsel
Who was selling her trade in the bar.
When I watched, she took from a customer
And slipped it right into my hand
Then the Watch came and put me in prison
Bad luck to the black velvet band.

Next morning before judge and jury
For a trial I had to appear
And the judge, he said, "You young fellows...
The case against you is quite clear
And seven long years is your sentence
You're going to Van Dieman's Land
Far away from your friends and relations
To follow the black velvet band."

So come all you jolly young fellows
I'd have you take warning by me
Whenever you're out on the liquor, me lads,
Beware of the pretty colleen.
She'll fill you with whiskey and porter
Until you're not able to stand
And the very next thing that you'll know, me lads,
You're landed in Van Dieman's Land.

35. And here's one for us ladies!
Fare well to cold winter, summer's come at last.
Nothing have I gained but my love I have lost.
I'll sing and I'll be happy like the birds up in the trees.
Since he deceived me I care no more for he.

CHORUS:
Let him go, let him tarry, let him sink or let him swim
He doesn't care for me and I don't care for him
He can go and get another that I hope he will enjoy
For I'm going to marry a far nicer boy

He wrote to me a letter saying he was very bad
I sent him back an answer saying I was awful glad
He wrote to me another saying he was well and strong
But I care no more about him than the ground he walks upon.

CHORUS

Some of his friends had a good kind wish for me,
Others of his friends, they could hang me from a tree
But soon I'll let them see my love, and soon I'll let them know
That I can get a sweetheart no matter where I go.

CHORUS

He can go to his old mother now and set her mind at ease
For she's a mean old woman and very hard to please
It's slighting me and talking ill is what she's always done
Because I was courting her great big ugly son.

Some excellent ones up in the Grand Traverse Region of northwest lower Michigan. Do you have any in your cellar? Nicely chilled, of course.

26. Close to water....ah, you have heard that one, then?
Hubby calls most America brews "canoe beer" as in "they're like making love in a canoe...f!#%ing close to water"

Porters are usually more my taste--something with a body under the head!

29. The Jack and Bud
is what I drink when I want to get rowdy, so I am not paying a lot of attention anyway. It was also my college ticket to legal oblivion. It also went well with LSD.

My favorite beer is Anchor Porter or Old Foghorn, both American, both thick enough to substitute for a hot meal.

34. Any brew that can substitute for a meal
Is good enough! I've a dear friend who I've seen point to a Guinness and say "There food and drink in that!"

And the darker the beer, the better for your heart!

Actually, I'm rather fond of some of the brews they make here in Columbus at Barley's....of course, a good pint of Guinness takes a few minutes to pour properly.

36. Well, Hubby is out of the basement, so I'm out of here!
Turn off the lights and lock up when you're finished--leave the bill on the bar for mattcom to freak over in the morning!

And remember, folks...DU is here to bring us together, not tear us apart. So a final toast:
May those who love us love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

Slan go foill!
(Goodbye for now)
