Holy Crap! My neighborhood is on COPS now! |
|
There are 2 black fellows suspected of drug posession on TV about .5 miles from my house.
Anyone else ever had this happen to them?

12. cause those are the ones they can catch... |
|
and they dont put the ones that get away on tv, for obvious reasons. but the extreamly overweight ones and the ones that are too weak to run are the easy to catch so they make the show.

8. "Who knew South Florida is full of degenerates." |
|
I DID! But then again, being a native SOUTH Floridian (a true rarity!) it comes with the territory.
I remember an episode of COPS from about 5 years ago, and they busted someone (can't remember what for) at this tire place in Boynton on Congress, and it's was only about 3 miles from where I lived! Drive by the thing all the time! Remind me to lock my doors!!!

Serge Storms that is, I'm a Hiaason and Dorsey junkie. Serge was a native South Floridian as well I believe. Me, I'm from CENTRAL Florida! Not as many bad guys here, but 5X the old people. It's the land of canes, walkers, oxygen tanks and Mercury Grand Marquis. Quiet though......almost TOO quiet.

4. In college, my friends rented a house that should've been condemned... |
|
And there was a police chase by their house while we were partying on the front porch.
Later that fall we were watching when we suddenly recognized the street and then their house on COPS. We taped it when it came on again later that season and you can see a "blur" that is us on the porch.

Isn't that the IHOP they were at the one at Lake Worth & Military??? Damn that thing looked all too familiar!
Lu Cifer, man did I call this one in my other post!

It was the one on Okeechobee and near Palm Beach Lakes near the Porshe dealership. It's also across from Cheetah's a.k.a. Rush Limpdong's hangout.

They never show the cops pulling over someone who doesn't have drugs or something illegal in their car...I think a lot of people who watch that show think that the cops never search cars without finding something, never arrest someone who is not guilty, etc. Of course, showing the cops being wrong would make for a "boring" show.

I used to watch it sometimes, when it was new it seemed kind of exciting. But those cops make me sick playing to the cameras the way they do. I think at least half of all police sign up for the wrong reasons. I think a lot of them are just into a power trip and not really concerned with protecting the public.

Big tough guys harrassing pathetic druggies and prostitutes. I can't believe they think they are so fucking bad-ass. Makes me hate cops even more than I do already, which is saying something. Only redeeming feature is the intro and outro of "Bad Boys" by Inner Circle.

26. the lesson of COPS ... |
|
is that most trouble begins when people try to self-medicate using cheap beer or harder stuff like meth & cocaine.
Dudes smoking the weed don't make good TV, but a domestic dispute driven by a sub $8.00 12-pack is ripe with drama with dialogue that is usually obscene

To see what kind of bullshit the cops are pulling these days. I am not a regular viewer but I did see an episode where the cops were selling Marijuana on one corner and confiscating the buyers car on the next- Take someones car for a 20 dollar bag of weed? Illegal seizure in my opinion.

I saw a Cops once where the pigs--most officers of the law don't deserve that name, but these ones did--rented a hotel room, put a decent-looking officer portraying a hooker in it, then sent out fuckin' officers posing as pimps to bring in johns.
These guys would go in, cut a deal, pay their money and then get arrested. Without getting anything out of it but a ride in a squad car.
Ya'd think that if you were gonna get buttfucked by the local gendarmes, they'd at least give you a reach-around.

Also in that same episode, in Palm Springs CA, they pulled over a guy on a bike BECAUSE HE HAD A BACKPACK. Huh? You mean to tell me that all people who ride bikes and have a backpack are certain to be guilty of something? That's rediculous. So much for PROBABLE CAUSE. "Well, you saw him. He had a BACKPACK!"
Again, I find myself quoting Bill Hicks: "Why don't they just call the show STORMTROOPERS?"

21. A friend of mine was on the first season of "Cops" |
|
He was riding his motorcycle at extreme speeds while drunk. Luckily, he's wised up considerably since then, but I suspect he's still a bit "proud" of his accomplishment. He still has a videotape of the whole episode.

He posted bail the following morning, went to court a few weeks later, paid a bigass fine and lost his DL for a year.

25. I don't hate cops, but... |
|
...I despise any abuse of power, which, gee, I know I'm really going out on a limb here! My dad (and he is FAR from liberal!) was a cop for 3 decades and even HE can't stand how it seems like every last police force is just out to keep America a police state! I'm sick and tired of seeing speed traps every time the end of the month rolls around, but at any given intersection in South Florida, you'll have at least 3 cars run the red light. Now, which is more a danger to road safety? Driving 10 mph more than the stupid speed limit, just to keep the peckerhead in the SUV off your ass...or...RUNNING A RED LIGHT!!!

but the Chicago police won't participate with the program, I've heard. And I so wanted to be filmed while barefoot, wearing a tubetop, and holding my 40.

The streets were often used for cop TV dramas. They even filmed a scene for Harry O in one of the restaurants I worked in. When we went shopping or to the beach, we often ran into crews filming on location.
