I can't wait to get out of here!
I really, really, dislike living here sometimes. Someone on my local ISP's Message Board posted this glurgy item about minibrain prayuing with a wounded soldier during a visit to Walter Reed. (NOTE: I will be referring to items of this sort as chimpspam in the future.) After doing some research over on Snopes, I debunked the piece of chimpspam. (You can read this bit of chimpspam here: http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/injured.asp) Oy gevalt, did the freepers in this area respond big time. You can read the thread and what they have to say here, http://messageboard.ez-net.com/general/messages/26962.html however you cannot post anything. My question is why do rural areas seem to be such hotbeds of freeperism?

2. I came from a rural area
and I never understood it myself. It never made sense to me that friends, family, and neighbors who would give the shirt off their backs, taught me compassion and caring, and tolerance could turn on a dime when it came to politics. My dad's a die-hard republican and it seems all he ever cared about (mostly anyway) was how much he was paying in taxes. UGH!!! I didn't speak to him for 3 months when I was in high school over a referendum he was determined to vote against. Then when it failed and the cuts actually we going to take place, even my mom helped me canvass for votes to get the second-chance to be supported. Daddy voted yes the second time, btw.

The only thing I can figure out it that they like to take care of their own and keep things tightly under their own control and decisions. This goes with the republican meme of individual responsibility and keeping the government out of your business wasting your hard earned money.

Glad I'm not living around there these days. It's bad enough here in DuPage county, Illinois, but it would be downright bloody there.

3. Don't forget..
People in rural areas tend to subscribe to more fundamentailist sects of religion. The fundies tell them to vote Repuke because we dems support abortion, or the "homosexual agenda" and the robots obey. They vote Repuke no matter how badly the Repukes screw them over fiscally.
