Went to bed with predictions of snow starting by midnight...woke to a still green lawn. Sky darkened again at about 7 threatening...but nothing. Barometer is currently rising and the exhaust from the neighbors chimney is blowing south...
I don't especially like shoveling, but a cold Wisconsin without snow cannot be rationalized aesthetically.

2. Actually yes, snow's passed north, south, and west of Milw. |
|
without more than a dusting. Wisconsin in winter with no snow...it's not pretty. If you woke up with a date that looked like this you'd chew yer arm off just to get away.

12. Yes, send some down to Georgia. |

Right now it is 64 degrees, clear and partly cloudy. We usually get some snowfall in the winter, but nothing forecast for anytime in the near future. I love the snow, even though I don't see too much of it here. Actually, we normally just get a dusting. Nothing sticks around for too long. The last heavy snow here was the Great Blizzard of 1993.

21. We got almost 50 inches in our first storm |
|
And then 2 feet in the second. It's snowed off and on since then although during the "off" periods it's been in the 40s and a lot has melted.
I live at a ski area so the locals are happy. :)

day here....so far. They've promised the snow will be here later this morning. It's been so warm, haven't needed a coat for days. I'm starting to feel....well, un-Canadian.

4. Currently it seems this one is moving more east the northeast |
|
I claim no expertise in meteorology beyond the ability to name what is happening outside my window, but there seems to be a high pressure keeping the snow off a hundred miles or so to the south of here.

predicted for Central/Northern part of the state.
Unfortunately, my son left to go back to school in Florida this morning. Will be driving through the "teeth" of the snow/freezing rain in Illinois. I'm a nervous wreck!

7. Yes its in the forecast...but snow predictions seem like astrology |
|
Last night's forecast suggested this high (which is dry air) would pull north allowing precip to reach the surface...sometime aroung midnight. Unfortunately the high didn't depart. Last I looked the barometer was still rising...and just now, the water vapor from the neighbors house is gently blowing to the south.
Of course this could all change over a couple hours.

16. I disagree....a little |

my son is a Senior Meteorology Student. The only reason he decided to go ahead with departing today is because he came up on the computer yesterday afternoon and did his own forecast. He said that the freezing rain band would be small by the time he got to the area in question and felt that he could navigate through it safely (if he reduced speed and took it very, very easy).
So far, he's been right. He thinks he'll be in the all rain band of the storm by the time he turns towards Indianapolis. God, I hope he's right about that too. He's got a two day drive in front of him and I still worry about him making the trip alone.

One of the curiosity is that the creeping jenny (one of Milwaukee's worst lawn weeds, and the bane of Wawautosa) is still gloriously green.

I almost froze my balls off driving my brother to the airport, and I think it's only 1 or 2 here. One time when I was in high school he forgot to pick me up, and I had to walk home the coldest day of the year, three miles. THAT was -40 without windchill. DAMN that was cold.
