When I swam regularly and never ate any fat, I had great abs. I still have the faint outline...but they're not all cut out like they were when I was 17.

Mine are sorta natural, because I'm skinny; his come from working out and doing crunches and leg lifts. :)

4. I've lost nearly 120 pounds... |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 02:31 PM by VelmaD
went from a size 24 to between a 10 and a 12. Went from 275 pounds to under 160. I do a 20 minute ab workout every day regardless of what else I do at the gym. And I still don't have great abs. Good, but not great. You have to work your abs to build up the muscle and lose the weight you have sitting on top of them so they actually show. It takes forever. *huge sigh*

My figure and measurements are decent and I look fine in clothes, but my lower abs themselves aren't so good and I'm less than satisfied with my naked self because of that. I don't know if they'll even look right since I had 4 c-sections :( and therefore the lower part of my rectis abdominis muscle has been cut 4 times horizontally. What does one do for that?

Reasons:
It's on the inside that counts.
And gay males have this stereotype pitted against them about looking perfect and only wanting men who look perfect (on the outside). (It's rather hard to dispel the myth too, given firsthand experience, whether it be in bars or on online services, so I no longer care... There is no Mr. Right and monogamy/marriage/whatever is just a dream. Would it make a difference if repukes banned the concept of gay marriage?)
I see no point in losing the 15 pounds needed. The world is a gloomy place as it is and unless progressives take control of everything to restore society and end corporate tyrrany... chances are we'll be all dead in a year anyway; a terror attack or war brought about by Chimpy McThief* might do it.
If I lose my job, I lose everything else and keep in mind I work in IT... Unlike normal people, I've had to content myself around technology and gadgets. I barely survive as it is. And despite the number of retail stores looking for help, I can't pass those profiling tests they make applicants take. Which is probably for the best, those jobs pay next to nothing. And I will not live homeless. Dead or poor, which do you prefer if you were a social feeb?

9. still pretty good at age 34 |

You just can't concentrate on "abs". You have to work all muscle groups in the torso and upper leg region. Also, cardiovascular work is essential. Calories need to be burned off so fat is lost around the stomach. Just doing abs won't necessarily give you "abs". It will strengthen the stomach, but may not give you a look. Diet and proper rest is also crucial.

12. Sit-ups are (mostly) a waste of time if you don't have low body fat % |
|
Once you get low enough body fat to "see" something there, then you want to work your way up to about 200+ a day to get a really good six-pack. If you want to have the freakish eight-pack, you need to starve yourself a little afterwards--sometimes that depends on your physiology as well. If you're boxing or doing gymnastics, make that 400+ a day.
