Some Things Conservatives Love

1. The God of the Old Testament.

2. Everything Ronald Reagan did, like supplying Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction, training Osama bin Laden and sending 273 Marines in Beirut to their deaths.

3. Abortion, unless it's George W. Bush's fifteen-year-old girlfriend.

4. China, because they can make product cheaper than American companies can buy the raw materials since they have no labor laws and no minimum wage.

5. The idea that a "well-regulated" militia as specified in the Second Amendment can be twenty or thirty untrained guys with machineguns and no moral compasses.

6. Hamburgers seasoned with cow manure.

7. To get elected to school boards even though they send their own children to Christian schools.

8. Gay people, because you can still openly hate gay people without getting sued and modern conservatism doesn't work without hate.

9. Bill and Hillary Clinton. Every conservative group in America would be running on the change they dug out of the seat cushions if they couldn't put a picture of one of the Clintons on the cover of their fundraising appeals.

10. The idea that American Christians are being persecuted, even though no Christian in America has ever been persecuted. And being told to take your three-ton graven image out of the doorway of the Alabama Judicial Building isn't persecution, so don't try it.

11. The idea that the media is owned by liberals. Unfortunately for this idea, out of the top ten media companies, exactly one (Disney) is owned by liberals. Of the rest, one is owned by an Australian conservative (News Corp, which is Fox), one by Japanese conservatives (Sony), one by French conservatives (Vivendi Universal), one by German conservatives (Bertelsmann), one by a defense contractor (General Electric) and the rest (TimeWarner, AT&T, Viacom and Liberty Media) by American conservatives.

12. Eliminating US manufacturing, as evidenced by all of the "I'm Proud Bush is my president" bumper stickers on cars parked in front of Wal-Mart.

They're obviously still harping on issues from the 1980 Reagan campaign. That's probably because the reich wing hasn't had any new ideas since '80, just keep right on with their formula approach, repeating the demagoguery they were successful at in 1980 that got Raygun into office.
