So, I created this new webpage...

...based on my Top 200 records of the '60s Soul Era. Right now, it features the full list (naturally!), along with individual artist pages. You can check it out here:

2. Good site,,,,but
I don't see any Joan Baez, Janice Joplin, Judy Collins....12 string guitar folk music that I love from that period.... Bob Dylan...Guess I am just an old out of date hippie/vn vet and war protester.

4. Errr, dude....

Did you happen to catch the name of my page? It's called, "1960s Soul: My Top 200." There's no Baez, Dylan, Joplin or Collins on my page because as good as they might have been, they were never soul singers!

Honestly, people: learn to pay attention! :eyes:

3. Super page & list
Edited on Sun Jan-04-04 07:53 PM by GabysPoppy
I have two questions.

1) Are you planning to follow it up with a Doo - Wop list from the 50's and 60's?

2) Are you sure of your date concerning the Dells recording of Oh, what a night? I would think it was earlier than 1968

5. Funny you should mention doo-wop!

I actually have assembled a list of my 200 favorite R&B vocal group records, and have put it up on a webpage. I never mentioned it here, though, because I don't think there's a whole lot of interest in doo-wop at DU. I could be wrong, of course.

Anyway, since you brought it up, here's the URL to my doo-wop list:

http://home.comcast.net/~soulexpress4/Top200.htm

Regarding the Dells: they actually recorded "Oh What A Night" twice, first in 1956 and again in 1969. The former is on my doo-wop list, while the latter my my Soul 200.

7. Pretty good list
Most of my favorites are there but I might rate them differently but that's just a matter of taste and memories.
On first glance I noticed two missing that I thought you would have had up there. Dear Lord by the Continentals and Gloria by the Cadillacs or by Earl Lewis (my favorite)

If I get ambitious, I will start with your list and make up my own too. If I don't procrastinate I will post it here or just PM it too.

All in all I am very impressed with your efforts.

Good Job

8. At some point, I'll be doing a '70s Soul list, as well.

Just haven't gotten around to it yet!
