Sufjan Stevens
Love him or hate him?

I think he's the most innovative thing to happen to pop in a long while....

And I mean real pop, not that Britney-Mandy-Beyonce-Whinyassprincess pop.

3. saw him on Austin City Limits
the angel-flight attendant costumes were pretty damned stupid

the music was cool

the lyrics veered a little too far into the insipid "spirituality" area for my taste

I agree though. Interesting, innovative pop.

4. Love him
he's playing here soon at the Kennedy center and the tickets are FREE but if you want one you have to go to the Kennedy center on the 27th and pick them up and I can't drive and my hubband might have to work that day :|
We're gonna try though, I hope we see him.

5. Love him
I saw him at the Bowery last summer. He was great.

Of course, I might be biased being from Illinois originally, but still, he's a fantastic musician and songwriter.

7. I really don't see what's so innovative about his work.
There're plenty of people he's directly lifting from.

I don't care enough to hate him, but I wouldn't spend my money a record of his, either.

11. I see your point.
But I still like "Illinois" a lot. Plus, he's good looking, so that satisfies the embarrassingly shallow side of my musical tastes.

9. I love Illinois
And Michigan was pretty damn good, too.

But I wish he'd rock out once or twice a record. A little testosterone wouldn't hurt.

10. I have "Michigan" and love it.

I love the song about the UFO's and John Wayne Gacy. He is definitely unusual. I have heard that he is going to put out an album for every state. Do you know what he's working on now?

on edit -- it is "Illinois" that I have. Me bad.
