I've Got An Earworm... It's A Good One I Think
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKZa0RjwqMY

"6th Avenue Heartache"

Sirens ring, the shots ring out
A stranger cries, screams out loud
I had my world strapped against my back
I held my hands, never knew how to act

Chorus:
And the same black line that was drawn on you
Was drawn on me
And now it's drawn me in
6th Avenue heartache

Below me was a homeless man
I'm singin' songs I knew complete
On the steps alone, his guitar in hand
It's fifty years, stood where he stands

Now walkin' home on those streets
The river winds move my feet
Subway steam, like silhouettes in dreams
They stood by me, just like moonbeams

Look out the window, down upon that street
And gone like a midnight was that man
But I see his six strings laid against that wall
And all his things, they all look so small
I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star
Just like me-just moved on

3. BTW
I really appreciate your sig line about gay rights

I spent time with some of my friends who are gay and there are some real issues going on in this state right now regarding gay rights and foster parenting.

4. I put that up in support when our lovely state
voted for putting marriage discrimination into our constitution.

I can't believe how much gay marriage scares the bejebus out of people.

6. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the ways that gays are mistreated
in the name of 'religion.'

7. I hear ya, My State Did The Same Damned Thing
and then passed a law to discriminate against gays having foster kids, or even having a gay person in the house (say I had a nephew who lived with me, or my son, and they were gay, I couldn't have foster kids) In Arkansas there are at any given moment 3200 kids that need foster care.

This law is in the courts right now. It will be interesting to see if a) the courts strike it down, and b) if the new legislature and dem governor do anything with this issue.

I'm taking a stand that I and others in my profession will in fact broach the issue with legislators to stand up to the far right fearmongerers, and do something for the sake of kids instead.

9. What I cannot understand is
how we elected 2 Dem senators, a Dem governor, took back the state legistlature, yet people still voted to discriminate against gay marriage.

It's disappointing.

My gay friends came to my wedding. I would like to go to theirs too.

11. Yeah, Me Too
I love my gay friends, they are some of the greatest and most caring people I know.

I can't stand the prejudice and fear that emanates from the RR.

13. Because many people were just voting against the Iraq War...
rather than FOR dems. They didn't magically transform into progressives. They're still the same small-minded assholes they always were.
