SIL driving me nuts!
My SIL is always digging for information. And the problem then is she looks for the negative stuff - or puts a negative twist on things and then proceeds to tell her story to everyone that will listen to her. She asked about my DS grades and I ignored her - but my DS told her his math grade went from an A to a B. So now her story is his grades are dropping. You know with the snide, nudge nudge thing.

Rumor monger and bearer of bad news.

I'd really like to tell her to F**k Off, but it's family.

But now she's messin with my kid and I'm ready to go off on her...
What would you say?

Stewin!!

1. I'd tell her off
She may be family, but you have to put your kid first.

2. It is *never* too early for a child to learn to be guarded with info
about themselves with gossipy relatives or "friends".
Tell him he doesn't have to tell her jack.

3. Seriously -- so what if it's family?
They don't have a right to treat you badly -- and certainly not your child. Tell her to "fuck off," literally or figuratively.

4. my dad is like this
everything is very, very bad, almost tragic, on the verge of imploding, all the time. It keeps me worked up in a fit of nerves until I find out the truth, which is never so dramatic. It's close to pathological lying, almost. I think it's rooted in insecurity about his own achievements and station in life. Bringing other people low as a way of elevating himself. Doesn't work. And it definitely shouldn't be done to a child, that is just cruel. What is a "DS" by the way...

The reason my son told her his grade is he is okay with it. So am I.

And I really try to not trash family members to my kids. They are - for the most part - figuring out the characters. I have been able to accept her doom and gloom messages as a personal flaw of hers - and stay in the other part of the room.

But now her target is my kid and you are right. She probably needs to hear from ME!

I wonder how she will spin it..?

7. Punch her in the throat. Then stand over her with arms folded as she struggles for air.
She won't fuck with you again.

:spray:

I find a good, solid punch in the neck is the prescribed answer to most of life's irritations.

8. Another thing
She is the looser, black sheep, health problems, dealt a bad hand of cards...

Bad divorce, 50ish and still lives with Mom and Dad, weird health problems, the list goes on and on. Her own son drank himself to death at 16 - she says no drinking problems, he'd never drank before...

So she is not normal, so she has a weird niche in the family.

I just don't want to come out of this being the bitch.

10. my sil is literally one of the most unpleasant people i've ever known
we call her "The fun remover". It's gotten to the point where her own daughter is applying to grad school in England only, it's so bad her kid wants to be in a seperate country from her. At Christmas we went to Maui and her daughter came with us but her son couldn't because of his classes, "Oh well my son wanted to go but i suppose the ipod you sent him is nice, maybe next vacation you can plan it for when he's out of school" Now mind her son is a spoiled little ingrate and sending him an ipod just about killed me and then to top it off he never even said thank you. everything is about "My kids!" for my sil but it really isn't, it's all about her and she uses "My kids!" as her human shield, ala "Everything i do i do for my kids!" This is when i thank my lucky stars we moved 3000 miles away.

BTW my 2 bil's don't speak to her anymore at all.

11. Oh a Fun Sucker!
Don't ya just hate it when a person can just suck the fun out of everything!
Damn!

At family dinners we'll all play table games after the meal - she keeps busy with the dishes and clean-up. Poor me!!

She's pathetic...and I'm getting pissed just thinking about it.

Everyone talks about the SIL - so maybe I should be the one to do the 'intervention".
