This is what my mother said to my girlfriend today when she learned I have the flu. So Renee spent the entire day cooking homemade chicken soup with cilantro, green, red and gold peppers, lime, avocado and spices, seasoned with lemon peel and corn cob. And a whole chicken into the stock! Best soup I ever had. Thank god for the tender ministrations of women!

3. mmmm...tortilla soup!

It's great garnished with slivers of fried tortillas and a dollop of sour cream. And I have found that a handful of masa stirred into the broth brings the absolute perfect touch.

4. Sounds more like sancocho to me...

Tortilla soup is often just chicken soup with tortilla chips and cheese. When you start getting whole corn ears and the like thrown in, it's generally sancocho.
