I'll bite. She wants to make be shove a pencil in my ear because the sound of the bleeding is funnier than she could ever hope to be. I think that she uses the most base humor she can come up with that will entertain 8-10 year old boys. The fact that she is so pretty and lets some of that stuff fly out of her mouth destroys that beauty completely. There are once in a blue moon occasions to act like that and make those kinds of jokes. It's certainly not something to comprise a whole show around. I don't feel like she has any kind of filter to know when enough is enough.

2. Neither - she is not really a freak as in a negative way ... |
|
and I don't think she is a comedic genius. Though I am surprised that Comedy Central gave her a show. Its a show that I won't be watching.

5. I watched the show and I thought it was pretty funny |

The real mystery to me is how those Naked Trucker and T-Bone guys got a show. They make Larry the Cable Guy look like Lenny Bruce.

15. Good point - I laughed at some of the Silverman commercials, but |
|
those Trucker ones left me thinking :wtf:. I thought for a while they were fake, spoofy commercials intending to promote something else, but no such luck...

Perhaps not as dangerous or edgy as the hype would have us believe.

Only one or two things seemed even moderately funny.

Occasionally she makes me giggle, but mostly I usually feel like she tries too hard.
Then again, I didn't like the Lisa Lampanelli special either sooo... there might be something wrong with me.
I miss Mitch Hedberg.

10. She's not interesting enough to be a freak |
|
Silverman is a frat-boy with breasts and impish smile; the fact that Rolling Stone declared her the funniest woman in America gives me cause for concern.
My advice: Skip the show, and surf around for a George Carlin performance.

12. You should be more concerned about the editorial staff at Rolling Stone, 'cos she's NOT the funniest |

woman in America by a long shot.

13. her delivery is great |
|
it is all she has going for her. I think comedians like her play into that reaction people have whenever we are hit with something that makes us uncomfortable or surprises us: sometimes we laugh. It can be a startled laugh or an uneasy laugh or a nervous laugh, but we do laugh and it's just a reflex like when someone hits your knee with a rubber mallet. I don't think that that makes "comedy" like hers and Lisa Lampinelli's 'funny'. I think we have that nervous reaction to their blatant racism and bigotry and we think "Gee, I just laughed. That means they must be funny." I love Silverman's delivery, it reminds me of Paula Poundstone or Ellen, that is what makes their comedy what it is but they aren't bigots. Silverman may not be either, she may just know there's money to be made in it. Lampinelli is a human toilet. I despise her. She needs to be put out of her misery.

There's no contradiction there.
Actually the genius part may be a bit, ah, premature; "sophomoric" might best describe Sarah's humor.

17. The only thing I have with her |
|
is her use of the word ni**er. I thought that Richard Pryor had finally decided that it wasn't funny, but that was just me.
