12. I'd re-buy
all of the CD's and records I've sold to make rent/get booze/go to a show etc through the years. The total is in the hundreds. Then I'd get everything else my covetous heart has desired but been denied by my cheapness.

27. God, I've starved before selling any of my collection.
I'm fucking *neurotic* about it. When people ask if they can borrow something, I laugh and point at them. Seriously, let any of my collection get away from me? HELL NO!

28. I don't get real attached to "stuff"
including my hair. I am the anti-girl that way. I've shaved my head bald a number of times without shedding a tear, was usually really happy to do it.

The only ones I kind of regret are the records, I sold a lot of rare/impossible to find 7" and stuff. Oh well.

Edited on Sat Feb-03-07 02:41 PM by Spider Jerusalem
Assumng I could find it. It's been out of print for a very long time, and there weren't many copies pressed. But it's got an absolutely brilliant jazz piano version of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" that I've wanted a recording of for years.

31. I'd complete my Madonna collection
I'm missing some of her 12" singles.

Then I'd work on filling in some serious holes in my classical collection.

Then I would get that Echo & The Bunnymen box set I've been eyeing for a long time.

Then that XTC box set. Aw heck, I'd complete my XTC collection, there's a bunch of stuff of theirs I'm missing.

Then I would get some Christmas music CDs. I just love Christmas music and there's about 20 or so CDs that I would like to have.

After that, I would just fill in some stuff here and there. 80s & 90s alternative, mostly.

I could easily spend $35,000 on music.

32. I would buy books on CD. I drive thirteen miles to work and back daily
and I listen to books on CD to fill in the time. All the ones at the library are pretty dated, so it would be fun to have new books. And then maybe all the Pimsleurs language series CD's. I did the French and it was a blast.

36. I know what I'd start with
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 08:30 PM by mvd
I'd have no idea how I'd use the money after a few hundred dollars, though.

Here are some albums that I want and will be coming:

Julia Othmer - Oasis Motel (soulful pop mixed with her own brand of pop/rock - wonderful stuff!)

David & The Citizens - Until the Sadness Is Gone

Barenaked Ladies - Barenaked Ladies Are Men

Mary Chapin Carpenter - The Calling

Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity

Patty Griffin - Children Running Through (I need to get Flaming Red, too - her new stuff made me reconsider that CD. I now think I'd love it.)

The Figgs - Follow Jean Through The Sea

John Mellencamp - Freedom's Road

Jesse Malin - Glitter in the Gutter

Affair - Yes Yes To You

Lucinda Williams - West

Also:

- upcoming CDs by Avril, Mandy Moore, Brie Larson, Rilo Kiley, R.E.M., etc. - and more that are possible

- catching up on oldies like Lou Christie

- The new Fall Out Boy and Bloc Party CDs sounded good on first listen. The Fall Out Boy has better melodies than before IMO. Might buy those two.

I'm not posting a full end-of-year grade list of what I buy. It's ok to a certain point, but then it gets so long that I keep track of the CDs/grades in my notepad file. I will say that most of my top 20 last year earned an A+, and the rest earned a still terrific A.
