Who has been to a drive in movie and enjoyed it?
I remember marathons of crappy movies that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Cannonball One and Two

70's slasher movies!

I most recently took my son to his first drive in show, and he thought it was great.

8. Same here!
There was 10 of us in a non-mini-Van (my family and several friends and their families). I still remember hearing Vader's breathing scaring the cr@p out of my youngest sister :-)

The last drive-in I went to was with Marie O8) - we saw the Wedding Singer and Deep Blue Sea. One of the last times we were...intimate? I guess that's a good way of phrasing it.

16. Me too!
It was my first time at a drive in and my first time seeing Star Wars. My town actually had 2 drive ins. The one where I saw Star Wars was off from the road so the screen wasn't visible and they eventually went to an all porn format before closing for good. The other one is still open as far as I know. I think the last movie I saw there might have been Speed. I always thought it was a blast. Of course, I never did too well with the ladies back in those days so there wasn't any of those kind of drive-in experiences, but my friends and I would usually go there with lawn chairs, beer and some nuggs and settle in for a double feature. Good times!

4. I worked at "The Big Sky"
drive-in around 1975. They gave me all the "one-sheets" from great classics like "The incredible two headed beast" and others. I gave them to my niece years ago.

5. I saw Young Frankenstein at a drive-in.
With my two older male cousins and one of their friends. It was my first Mel Brooks movie, and that was a real hoot -- I was only about twelve or thirteen, so it was cool to be considered 'grown up' enough to go see a movie with my cousins and their friend.

The last movie I saw at a drive-in was early two summers ago, we went to see Spiderman at a drive-in in Springfield, Ohio. We took our own popcorn. It was a weeknight, but the place was still pretty crowded. I live in southwestern Ohio, there are still at least a dozen drive-ins between Celina, Ohio and Cincinnati, down the I-75 corridor. Most of them are still in pretty decent condition and seem to make plenty of money, so they may be here a while yet. The best part is not having to hear everybody else's cell phone, crying baby, editorial comments, etc.

7. Used to LOVE going to the Drive-In.
When my parents were married, we would all go. Then after the divorce, I would go with my Dad. Dusk to Dawn Horror Festivals at the 53! Awesome memories.

11. Plenty
As a child we did 4th of July at the drive in; fireworks were after the movie.

In highschool I saw "Jaws" at the drive in with a friend. She was so scared she locked her doors and rolled the windows up; jumping, and glancing out the window every time the shark approached.

I also saw the premier of Star Wars at the drive in in high school.
We used to pile as many people in a car/truck as possible, and then unload chairs etc. once we got there.

As a young mother, we did the drive-in with the kids in the back of the pick-up. By then, you just paid per car, not per person. We used to pile as many people in a car/truck as possible, and then unload chairs etc. once we got there.

Until they closed the last one in my area down. There hasn't been a drive-in more than a decade.

12. As a kid growing up in the fifties, I loved going to the drive-in!
I don't remember what pictures we saw...but, it was all such a fun experience.

The klunky speaker in the window...the sound of tires on the gravel moving slowly through the lot...the playground for the kiddies in front of the big screen...the snack bar. OH, THE SNACK BAR! :9 The smell of hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, pizza, and popcorn filled the air. The entire family got to eat out...and, see a show at the same time.

The last time I went to the drive-in was in 1966...we drove in...as a college student, I was in the trunk to save money. And, it was fun, too!

Ah...such an American icon...the drive-in...are there any left that aren't just used for flea markets on the weekends?

:nostalgia:

19. Never see "Rocky Horror Picture Show"
At a drive-in near Biloxi. The audience just doesn't understand!

We're durn lucky; there's at least three drive-in theatres still in existance in San Diego County - one of them is just down the way from us - and it's one of the ones you can get audio through the radio.

If we had a kick ass stereo system in the van, I'd be tempted to make it a family trip one nice summer night.
