Just a note to get the ball rolling on this thing. Bearfan454 has graciously invited the Austin area DUers (and I suppose anyone else who wants to drive down) to his place for a Super Bowl party on February 1.

There's gonna be a TON of food - he's gonna post the menu here in a bit. *drool*

50-50 jalapeno deer sausage

50-50 spicy deer sausage

deer cubes with jalapeno in the middle wrapped in bacon and marinated and cooked over charcoal

deer hard salami

whole pork loin

fried turkey

pasta salad

yankee baked beans

jalapeno deviled eggs

My Dad's famous guacamole dip (You've never had this before)

chips and homemade hot sauce

Plus any sweets that anyone wants to bring. Coordinate the sweets through VelmaD with a PM.

BYOB. I will provide food and coffee and pop.

Come over early if you want to get your groove on before the game starts. PM me if you have any questions. I am looking forward to kicking some repuke ass that day and having a hell of a good time with like minded people watching the Super Bowl !

is the county immediately to the north of Austin. Georgetown and Round Rock are both in Williamson County. I'm not sure exactly where in Williamson County bearfan454 lives but it can't be too far.

I'm not sure who I want to see in the Super Bowl now that my Cowboys are out of it. :-( I'm friends with some folks in Boston and North Carolina so I'll likely pull for the Patriots or maybe the Panthers (even though they beat the 'Boys).

unthawing in the icebox. The pork loin will be taken out of the freezer Saturday. I am making my list for HEB. The deer sausages will come out of the big freezer in the garage Saturday too. The backstraps for the jalapeno bacon wraps come out Sunday morning. The macaroni salad and Yankee baked beans I will make Saturday. Those two taste better the next day. Avacados are .79 each at HEB. I might check Albertson's or they might go cheaper if they start getting too soft before Sat or Sun. I have 36 pops.

So far everything is looking good.

This woman climbed a tree, gave birth in the tree, and stayed there for 3 days before being rescued. Now if that isn't tough, I don't know what is.

That woman's story is my source of encouragement. When I think "I can't do that", I just go back to the thought that somewhere out there, a woman gave birth in a tree by herself and I'm instantly reminded that I can do pretty much anything.
