Why can't the DEBT COLLECTORS be outsourced along with everyone else?

Hundreds of thousands of jobs being outsourced to countries where the workers are not only not as well-trained and qualified, but either can't speak English well or speak with such a thick accent you simply cannot understand them no matter how hard you try, leaving the American middle-class to suffer further rapid erosion and despair and further tearing at the economy.

It appears that almost no jobs are immune from outsourcing now, and no one is secure.

There is one job category, however, which doesn't seem to be affected or in any danger of being affected soon, and which doesn't appear to ever have any shortages, and that is the low-life, pond scum, bloodsucking, inhuman, inhumane, DEBT COLLECTOR, particularly of the medical debt variety. Those of you on here who know me are quite familiar with my total hatred and contempt of such vampires, and my numerous posts on the subject, including my own personal experiences with the medical collectors when I was out of work for almost a year and had no money and no insurance.

Anyway, my terminally ill uncle just had to deal with another one of those fucking bloodsuckers who don't care that he and my aunt are in danger of losing his house because the treatment bills are mounting because even though they have insurance, their copays and the bills the insurance won't/refuse to cover are really adding up and they just cannot deal with everyone and pay everyone at once, especially since my uncle can't work anymore, and everyone wants their money NOW and have put liens on the house, etc., etc., the usual story of corporate for-profit medicine's compassion.

So I was just thinking and wondering why these fuckers, who have jobs because millions of others don't and who make their living off of the misery and misfortune of others, haven't been outsourced as well. Then THEY could also join the ranks of those they harass, bother, and torment, and would finally learn what it is like to be in that situation. What sweet poetic justice THAT would be!!!!

And just think of what a great excuse that would be, that you couldn't understand them and thus had no idea what they were talking about, thus doctor/hospital so-and-so could take their bill and shove it up their millionaire asses!

3. Yup and they are really going overboard

Two times, over the last month, they've been bombarding my phone. It turns out that the people they were looking for did not live here and they had the wrong number. My number is listed, doing a reverse phonebook check is easy. But, no, they cannot be bothered with that... I sent complaints to the BBB, but they won't do anything about it, as usual...

their training involves not believing anything the person says and an "it's all the consumer's fault" mentality, even when they're wrong, as they are a lot of the time.

20. Calling The BBB Is The Wrong Thing To Do

You have to call an agency that has the power to do something. In this case, it's your state's Attorney General's office. Why do people think that the BBB has any power to do anything? They don't, and never have. Problem with your phone service/utilities? Contact your local Public Utilities Board, not the BBB.

kinda confused about the differences between the BBB and government agencies and legal enforcement, and the different roles each plays. But you're right, the BBB is absolutely the wrong place to call. They only exist as a private information resource on area businesses, and have nothing to do with any kind of enforcement powers or anything like that.

when hiring to staff these types of positions, background and criminal checks are required by the credit card companies. Lots of folks get turned down for bad credit themselves, or shady histories as far as being adjuticated for one reason and another.

credit and no non-traffic criminal background. It's not just the credit card companies, though, it's the policy of all collection agencies. And I'm talking mainly about medical collectors here.

I wonder if they will actually forgive the debt - or just write off collecting it?

GE Capital has a very large debt collection call center in India- collecting medical debts.

sourcing ; many Indians speak English already and the labor is just so cheap.

No, I didn't catch it, Dean, thanks for that most eye-opening link. I knew hospitals and doctors were bad, but had no idea it was THIS bad! Un-fucking-believable, indeed. So, what would they do with a seriously or terminally ill person, arrest them and make them spend their final days in jail, haggling with the fucking useless insurance companies?

I had known, btw, about the overcharging of uninsured patients, that's common knowledge among health-care reformers, and they're really working on getting awareness increased.

My contempt and disdain for those people knows no bounds and, as a paralegal, I'm especially furious at and ashamed of foreclosure and collection attorneys. Makes me want to go to law school myself just to fight those fuckers.
