12. Okay, in order of frequency:

* It seems every quarter I get another little batch of students who insist on being treated like intelligent adults. All well and good, and I'm more than willing to go there. But if that's what you want from your profs, it's never a good idea to blow off all the data they've given you regarding the course and what is expected in order to pass and excel at it to whine like a 3 year-old about your dismal grade at the end of the quarter. You had the data, it's your responsibility to take action on it in an appropriate time frame to salvage a respectable grade.

* Plagiarism is ethically wrong and grounds for failure, possibly dismisal. Plagiarism means submitting someone else's words and workproduct as your own. It is not 'okay' if you switch a few words and sentences around and rephrase things here and there. DO YOUR OWN WORK. If you're stupid enough to plagiarise and get caught (and there are now available some easy, excellent ways to catch people at plagiarising) don't whine about how you didn't know it was plagiarising if you changed the wording. And don't be surprised if we quit treating you like a responsible adult.

* I'm sorry if you don't like the departmental policies. We are willing to listen to your informed and intelligent input and modify our policies in the best interest of your education and experience at the school. Angry demands for immediate change on the date that your mid-term grade comes to disappointing fruition as a result of them is not the proper time or channel for such discourse or change.

Never mind. I'm a few decades out of school, myself. My gripes would be a bit dated.

14. I will keep my gripe short and bitter

high school sucks. Especially when you are a freshman and are treated like crap by stupid upperclassmen. And its impossible to get girls. Ugh. Approx. 1/4 of the faculty are incompetent. Math is evil, spiteful, and has a living malice that make it seem almost animate in its vileness. Thanks for giving me this opportunity to gripe.
