5. I think many very small, isolated towns could be a bummer |
|
Few people to date, numerically speaking, and depending on what you want to do with your life, few nearby colleges or employment prospects.
Not to dismiss small town living, I can see the appeal, but I think I'd like it better now that I'm married and have kids than when I was 18.

Young or not so young for that matter. I figured out one reason why it is the case for me: single women outnumber single men here by about 2500, according to a chart I saw in National Geographic magazine last month. Of course the graph said nothing about progressive or non-progressive, but this city elected a Republican sheriff for the first time in ages recently so that can't be good. And the city council is all about developers and graft and corruption so that isn't progressive at all.

Or just about anywhere in Utah for that matter. On one of the "adult sites" that I frequent, there are very few gay men logged on from Utah compared to some other states - I don't think it has to do with population either.

Utah and has a progressive mayor. I think you're right about most of the rest of Utah, though.
When I was in grad school I knew a young woman who had grown up in a medium-sized city in Utah as a non-Mormon. She said that it was terrible to be a teenager in her situation because the entire social life of the community revolved around the Mormon church.

It's about as conservative as one can get. The beaches there are nice, and Dutch Village is kind of fun.
