Did the Color Coded terror alert system come from.....Star Trek???? |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 09:31 PM by Gloria
I'm watching one of the older episodes of ST: TNG and #1 just informed Capt. Picard that he has notified a whole sector (or whatever) that the situation was now at "yellow alert."
Aren't we back to "yellow alert" in this solar system today?
Ya think?

2. If I remember correctly, there also was a blue alert, but it wasn't for an |
|
attack of suspicion...it was to prepare for making planetfall.

6. Maybe it's from "The Prisoner" |
|
"Orange Alert, Orange Alert!" (cut to scene of our hero being pursued by something called "Rover" that looked like a large weather balloon).

11. Voyager went blue alert when they "entered" that planet of water |
|
I believe, so that would make sense.

12. Blue alert on Voyager was for whenever the ship was to land |
|
I don't think they ever entered the water planet...it was Tom Paris in a shuttle IIRC

If you ponder seriously on that for a minute, it almost seems to be too obvious as to be not noticed. Maybe desiged that way, as in a first step in behavior modification, one that would be most likely to be accepted and held in reguard by the masses, further deprived of free will. Traffic lights are red, yellow, green too. Not that traffic lights shouldn't be obeyed - total free will would be chaos. But freedom has been horribly curtailed in the last three years, in that we now have a mechanism whereby our freedom can be gradually and greatly restricted for secret reasons and its bottom green, middle yellow, and top red - and if everyone who took exceptoin with the current state of things went out and marched up and down the streets about it, we'd go to red in a heartbeat. It will be a long time before we go green, but we will, rarely, when the figure out green can be used to elicit certain mass behavior - the more powerful when the least used.
GO - GO SLOW - STOP
They are all control mechanisms.
"Ohh, a quarter..."

Seriously, I'm wondering in their convoluted logic they thought they could win over the trekkie vote with this. Stranger things have happened with this bunch.
