my 5 point plan to render my husband obsolete is almost done.
why is it that everything breaks all at once when he's not home, i figure it's the universe telling me i need to learn how to fix stuff. Anyhow my dryer venting thingy (technical jargon) somehow broke and one of the hoses for my washing machine cracked so i fixed both of them myself and hung up a new light in my bathroom, i hated the old one so when i was at lowe's i bought one and installed this morning.

next up, repairing the floor in the laundry room and since i'm covered in dust and dryer lint i might as well get that done before i take a shower.

16. How do you open a jar with a spoon?
Not that I need help, I'm a man-man husband-type and I can open any jar with a grunt and a grimace, but I'm curious...

3. Well, there are certain things a husband can provide that just
cannot be rendered obsolete. Keep that in mind on your DIY odyssey!

:D

13. And if you're over 65
there's a brothel in the Netherlands that now offers nooners at half price...both genders.

6. it's a little bit like finding the Eigenvalues for a 4 by 4 matrix
It's not that I can't do it, but I would rather not. If somebody else will, then I would consider that a major blessing. Heck, I am too lazy to even make my own peach pie, and that's not even that hard (at least not the way I do it - by using a pre-made crust (as instructed by my mom) and a can of peaches), but I have not made one for over 6 years.

7. I feel your pain!
That's been my whole week! Argh!

Railing going upstairs, literally, fell out of the wall!
Heat/defrost knob in car stripped (frozen) and now I can't turn it on with out needle nose pliers.
Car seems to be over heating, if I sit in traffic to long.
Oven is saying it's heated up, but it's not!! :grr:
Remote broke. Had to buy new one.
New ice scraper with brush busted into pieces.
My tire has a slow leak and it looks like I need a new rim too!
"Things" in dishwasher, that holds glasses in place keep breaking off.

I'm ready for a vacation!!

But I'll have to 'rent' a husband to get any help. ;)

Hope your luck turns for the better!

14. You mean the remote?
 Hell yeah!!
Nothing worse than laying in bed and having to crawl out,
from under the warm covers, to change the channel.
Well; I know there are worse things but I really hate doing that! ;)
If I can't defrost the car windows, I have to have something to do!

I'm working on fixing the rest! ;)

8. You go girl!
I'm our family handyperson. Mr. Z. has zero mechanical aptitude and I have lots, so I've done all of the repairs, large and small. Through the internet, you can find out how to fix anything.

:hi:

of biblical proportions, wrote down the part numbers and went to the appliance place and the sales guy gave me his number in case i needed help. It'll all worked fine and i was very pleased i coulkd not only fix it but i actually got better parts than the original ones.

9. Good for you.
The self-confidence that comes from knowing you can fix stuff is great.

15. Ever think it's actually his plan that is working?
The way I picture it is your husband is thinking, "Hmmm, I'll just ignore or hide all these broken things until I'm outta here. Soon, she'll figure it all out and I can relax!"

You husband may be smarter than you're giving him credit for.
