Yeah!!!! I finished my phone calls to NH!
Such a relief to be done.

It's amazing how much apathy there is out there, also. Some people also seemed pretty burned out already.

I never said anything negative about any other candidate when they told me they were voting for someone else. I was even polite to Republicans who had voted Democratic in the past, even though I thought it was going to kill me.

Who else is making campaign calls?

1. 2002, Pensacola
I live in Alabama, nearby.
More than anything I wanted Jeb Bush defeated. I guess I thought this might send a message nationwide that the people of Florida did not approve of his actions and those of his minions in 2000.
Boy, was I wrong.
It's one of the most disheartening things I've ever done.
Ignorance ("When's this election?") and apathy ("Yeah, I'll try and vote if I have time.") prevailed.
I don't know if I got anybody to vote.
I kept thinking there were hundreds (thousands?) of folks just like me, making those calls all over the state, and we'd make the difference.
We didn't.
:-(

5. Yeah, on my last page I had like four in a row that hung up on me.
I don't take it personally, though, and I'm very respectful of people's decisions. I don't know what brings a person to one campaign or another. As long as they are voting Dem, I'm sound very supportive. I also offer to have info sent if they haven't received anything. Most say they have, though.

And yes, I really do have to bite my tongue when they tell me they are Rethuglicans. I try to sound extra nice. I don't want them complaining about rude Dems.

I also noticed that a number of people had "temporary disconnections" of their telephones. I think they get burned out after what, three weeks (?) of no-stop coverage (including which candidate is wearing what sweater). I'd get sick of the calls also. I think Clark is doing okay there.

The really hard part for me was finding the time to make the calls in accordance to the rules and when my little kids wouldn't get in the middle.

I also felt like I was cheering up some lonely elderly people who don't get enough attention. I also feel like I met one or two people I'd like to call friends if I was ever there.

Mostly really really nice people in NH.

3. Oh, come on...aren't there, like, six families in NH?
How long could it take to phone all six of them?

Or am I thinking of RI?

6. I was aghast at my phone list!
It was pretty long, but they said it would about 3 hours altogether, and I think that was close to being right. Left lots of messages.

What really surprised me was how often I was dialing the same exchange (everyone has the same area code). I covered some voters from two towns.

4. Yeah, I think keeping a candidates' name out there helps.
But it doubt I "converted" anyone who wasn't already leaning one way or another. Frankly, most people didn't want to spend that much time talking about it on the phone, just a few did.

I also told people that were voting for another candidate that I would for for their's if they won the nomination; all of the Dems were excellent -- ABB!

7. No phone calls,
but I've been writing letters on behalf of my favorite candidate.

8. Good for you and whoever that candidate may be!
:kick:
I'm so glad that the internet provides the means for Dems to work so hard for their candidates. I believe this level of interest and grass roots effort can make a difference, now and in the general election.
