Edited on Sun Mar-18-07 08:10 PM by Chan790
All cheap gin.

Also, I tend to spike-up people's drinks with grain or/and 151 when they're drinking my liquor to reduce their consumption of good stuff.

Edit: Necessary to note that I tell them up front if they don't want their drinks watered-up with crystal clear to bring a bottle to replace what they'll consume.

That's really all my buddies and I drink when I hang out in San Diego. We figure - it's got the same ingredients as Coors, Bud, etc, and a 24 pack is so much cheaper than a 30 of Coors it's not even slightly funny.

79. It was at a time when I was extremely shy.
So I felt like the gin was in control over my inhibitions, not me. I didn't go back to the club for months. But I finally got over it.

I also like vodka more because it doesn't have a scent. Years of bartending have also turned me off of Southern Comfort. Both have a very distinct odor. Occupational hazard, I guess.

It takes me a good week to drink a liter.

It's funny how episodes like yours can leave such a long lasting impression. The first time I ever drank anything at all I was camping out with 2 friends and we were going to get drunk for the first time. 2 of us were 14 and the other 16, and none of us knew what the hell we were doing. We had two bottles of whiskey, a bottle of gin, and a car. Perfect recipe for death and destruction. We sat around and drank for about an hour and then decided to drive around (yes! drive around!) I didn't think I was feeling anything so I guzzled most of the bottle of gin on top of everything else.

Next morning I woke up in a Presbyterian cemetery a good 2 miles from home. The night was a complete and total blackout. First and only time that ever happened to me. For all I knew I could have murdered some poor family that night. I somehow stumbled the 2 miles home in as near a straight line as possible. Backyards, driveways, clotheslines,... I was desperate to get home. The next day and a half was, by way far, the sickest I've ever been in my life. For at least another 30 years gin was like Kryptonite for me. I couldn't even stand to smell it. x(

My family was pretty good about the whole thing. I never said I was drinking and they never asked. They just took care of me and chalked it up to a bad hot dog from the fair. They didn't know about the car but they knew I'd been drinking. I guess they figured I'd given my own self a far more severe lesson than they ever could.

87. Whoa...flash....back....
Brevard College forest party circa 1989...

.....and then awkward, drunken, best friend/boyfriend sex in my dorm room.

Remember kids, if the RA on your floor can't:

1. See it.
2. Hear it.
3. Smell it.

IT NEVER HAPPENED!!

I can't believe I just confessed that on a message board.

39. Uncle Alan?
He's the only person I've ever known to ever drink Old Crow. He used to call it the "railroaders choice" because when he worked on the railroad back in the '70s his whole crew would get ripped during longer trips.

And I have my CAMRA membership card to prove it!

I'd bore you to tears about Belgian fruit beers but instead I'd like to beat all other DU beer snobs by singing the praises of Fat Cat Honey Ale instead. if you are ever in Norwich, Ipswich or Colchester then I highly recommend checking it out.

Name a brand, any brand, of any price range, and someone will call you an unbelievably crass fool for falling for the marketing and advertising hype surrounding that hideous atrocity of a beverage.

102. There are Lounge Booze Snobs?
A drink I don't tell people about much:

Frangelico over ice. Kind of reminds me of a White Russian.

Had it one Christmas as a kid in a little tiny snifter glass & couldn't get over the bottle shaped like a monk.

Haven't touched it in years. After all White Russians have a bigger kick.
