Who here can be a poster child for the Democratic party?

I can, I grew up on welfare (my parents were divorced and my father did not contribute any child support, this was during the 60's and 70's) My mother worked at very low paying jobs. I didn't have hot water in the house until I was in High School.

I spent every waking hour either at school or at the public library.

Or in a taxi. (We used to have to take a taxi to get our monthly allotment of food at the food bank. )

I won a four-year free scholarship to college.

I married above "my social class." And have subsequently done quite well in life. I would never be where I am today without these social programs sponsored by the Democrats. No matter what I contribute, I will never be able to pay the Democrats back for what they have done for me.

Does anyone else have a story?
