East-Shrine Game Inspiration


SAN FRANCISCO -- Neil Parry (bottom) sidestepped and lunged, dropping the kick returner to the turf. An instant later, he let loose a joyous scream.

Parry endured three years of pain, doubt and intense rehabilitation to return to football after part of his right leg was amputated. And with one simple tackle in the East-West Shrine game, his comeback was worth every sacrifice.

ESPN had a microphone on him, and you could
hear him yelling with elation.

For us poor, few, huddled, wretched San Jose State
fans, watching Parry's comeback has been a rare
pleasure.

3. I heard about him before
When UNLV played them, the announcers make mention of him but didn't say much. I really applaud whomever selected him, and John Robinson, for putting him in the game.
