4. mp3 is a nice cross-platform format for audio files

.asx is microsoft's proprietary format, and not Mac friendly.

5. The reason for MP-3 confusion...

Though your site's links call your archive files MP3s, they seem to actually be a proprietary Windows Media format that the version of Windows Media on a Mac cannot play.
