Sigh, another night on DU
If I don't make some friends or something in this town, I'm gonna die of suckiness.

1. Why don't you make friends out of snow?
Cheer up, chum!

Why don't you come over and hassle the freepers on Breezygirl's fundie post? Hours of fun, there!

4. we've got freepers?
that'll entertain me. I'm almost considering going to the Bar alone, but that would really suck. I used to do it alone all the time before, but now I don't have the desire.

2. Form a band
Put a weird musical ad in your local paper--you'll meet plenty of crazies.

3. Move to Minnesota!
I'd be honored, a lot of us would be, and we could use a lot more liberals in the United States as well (too many DINOs have left already, though the cynical part of me can't exactly blame them...)!

With time and good people working for a common cause, we can turn things around.

Though there are a lot of justifiable reasons why you shouldn't, I just like to dream. :D

5. Hi HEyHEY!
Well look, you haven't been there very long at all. Did you think people were going to just run up and embrace you?
Find a group of people who are into the same hobbies you enjoy, or take a language class or something. I know for a fact there are intelligent, warm, wonderful people there since I have old friends who are living there now.
Give it some time. Man, in my last job I was there for five months before people even started introducing themselves to me. Ended up making some great friends.
And what's so bad about DU, anyway?

6. hey this song actually applies to me...almost exactly!

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now, how I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in an awful way

I got in town a month ago
I seen a lot of girls since then
If I could meet 'em I could get 'em
But as yet I haven't met 'em
That's how I'm in the state I'm in

Oh,
{Refrain}

Another fella told me
He had a sister who looked just fine
Instead of bein' my deliv'rance
She had a strange resemblance
To a cat named Frankenstein

Ooh, la,
{Refrain}

It's hard on a fella
When he don't know his way around
If I don't find me a honey
To help me spend my money
I'm gonna have to blow this town

Oh, no,
{Refrain twice}

In a nearby bar, I don't think "suckiness" should be a part of your vocabluary.

14. can't think of a good plastic box joke for you
How about dancing type stuff - I know a lot of people who have made freinds at ethnic or other type weekly dances. Are there bands to go see? Movies? Book discussions? Watching things freeze? Sorry, don't know what part of Canada you are in. :) As someone who used to go out a lot, before parenthood set in, I appreciate the opportunity to go out more than I used to. Good luck.

18. You're wearing a tie in Alberta? No wonder nobody wants to...
...know you!

Unless it's a string tie, in which case I'm stumped.
