3. I applied for a job at wal-mart 2.5 years ago... |
|
I had to answer one of those personality profile reports.
Didn't pass.
If I lose my current job, I may never be able to get another. Ever.
I shouldn't have to move overseas just to be a slave for a big corporation that only sees me as exploitable and just as expendible...
I could work for Dell. Their new commercial has American white guys manning support stations. Problem is, and the truth is, Dell has its support in India, where people who can't speak English very well do all the work for pennies on the dollar. I don't want to live in India, what with lots of power outages, people, and deploreable living conditions.

4. Yes, but consider this... |
|
if you really would consider becoming a political activist, why not do it in India to fight those conditions. THey probably need you over there more than here, and furthemore, by improving conditions overthere you might be able to stop the exportation of US jobs...kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
Sure it's an aggressive outlook, but if you don't want to do that it's fine...you could ummm, uhh....hmmm....pump gas:)
Good luck with whatever u do

5. It sounds like you want to be a photojournalist |
|
Those were 2 of your poll options. You could put a polical activist slant on that. Do you have any alternative/leftist papers in your area? You might want to talk to them. If you have an interest in photography and want to make a lot of money, which you seem to need from previous posts, you might want to consider wedding/special occaision photography at least on the side while you develop your photojournalism career.

7. Hypno - BE A PHOTOJOURNALIST |
|
In a perfect world we'd all be journalists. I enjoy my job so much that I don't mind working 12 hours days for 6 days straight. I even found that while I thought I'd enjoy the writing part most, it's the picture taking I like the most.
ONly thing, you will want to be able to write as well. The way of the trade is now, only major dailies hire strictly photographers. And so the line-up to get in is huge. If you can write, start buggin a small weekly and send them your stuff. Even offer to do a few free articles.
good luck - J

9. Hypno, Photojournalist |
|
is where you should be. Take it from someone who spent way too many years in a career that didn't suit him: they cannot pay you enough money to be in a job you hate. Do whatever it takes, as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. One of the things I hated about my previous career was the high proprotion of back-stabbing so & so's in it.
Go for it! good luck!

10. I think you should be a photojournalist |
|
Who am I to buck a trend? There was a book out a few years ago, Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow (or maybe that was just a saying). If it was a book, they always left out my suggested subtitle, "If You Don't Starve First"...
