4. on TMZ.com this morning
apparently he told some professor to fuck off when she challenged his version of Mayan history. Then some people of Mayan descent(?) started in on him and he went off on them too...There were pics but no video that I have seen...

The man has problems.

25. He was decent as Hamlet, although I think he plays Hamlet in real life.
Mad Max, Fletcher Christian, Martin Riggs... He's been playing Hamlet his whole career. When he gets drunk and yells at cops, he's still playing Hamlet.

18. I'm thinking maybe "Braveheart"
He was so noble, so righteous, so strong, and so brave, I could hardly take it.

He wasn't a man, he was a god. Even the death scene was a "crucifixion" that surpassed that of Jesus. :(

The man could be no more uncool if he was sipping tea on the surface of the sun.... or as he calls it, the 'big fiery thingy that the Jooooos secretly tried to put out with fire hoses but were stopped by brave blonde-haired nazis'

20. Mel Gibson will never jump! He gets more entertaining with each new blowup!
He makes a movie, in the native Mayan language, to suggest that all pagans are going to hell, and he can't even be bothered to find a real Mayan word for the name of the movie. So instead he changes takes Christian word apolcalypse, but alters it to make it sound like a video game title.

And, Mel, your point being...?

When he stuck the British officer through with a flagpole. Perhaps not his first shark jumping, but it's the one I always remember.

23. I think that's it, too. Before then, he was still trying to make movies
Whether you like or hate Braveheart, he still made it to make a movie, although with a political message imbedded in it. The movie still worked as a story of its own. With The Patriot, he reversed that, and made a political message with a movie formula imbedded in it. Or maybe he just stuck so closely to a formula that he didn't realize there was no story. Whatever happened, that movie was a turning point. It become a collage of scenes he thought were cool, rather than a narrative.

As for him personally jumping the shark, I imagine, like most celebrities, it was the moment he started thinking people wanted to see Mel Gibson instead of seeing what Mel Gibson does.

28. Man. that boy has some issues.
<understatement of the decade; I know>

Wish he'd just go on and deal with his midlife crisis like any other bloke and do it in private.
Believe EVH is having the same problems, not that they are anything alike.
