When do you take down your Holiday decorations?

1. I took them down today.

Put them up the weekend before Christmas.

8. I rarely decorate anymore

I'm single and go elsewhere for the holidays. Unless I'm throwing some kind of holiday party, I don't decorate much.

In theory, I would take my decorations down on January 6th or thereabouts, since the Feast of Epiphany officially ends the liturgical season of Christmas. That's what would make sense and what I observed when I pastoring a church.

At my house, I try to get them down by Ash Wednesday :)

5. Technically Christmas decorations should come down

on the twelth day of christmas which is January 5. Christmas was traditionally observed for twleve days, hence the carol about the partridge in the pear tree.

6. I was a bit late taking them down, but we do observe the Feast of the

Epiphany in some small way. Maybe we ought to start doing that to save money on gifts!

9. Tree stays, decorations come off, then

it becomes a Mardis Gras tree.

10. I save my tree

...for the Festival of Ten-Foot-High Flames, celebrated every year in the back yard. Whooomp!! :D
