Mauresmo upset at Australian Open seeding decision

SYDNEY, Australia (Ticker) - World No. 4 Amelie Mauresmo of France on Sunday hit out at the decision to grant Venus Williams a special seeding at the Australian Open which has elevated the American from 11th to the third seed.

Williams, last year's runner-up, replaced her sister Serena as the tournament's number No. 3 after the defending champion withdrew having not sufficiently recovered from a knee injury.

The move, recommended by the WTA Tour, was met with frustration by Mauresmo, who would otherwise have risen a place up the seedings and could have seen her championship chances improve as a result.

I hope Venus loses in the first round!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
