Is there a Vet in the house? Dog Sick... |
|
Our 125lb Golden Retriever began this morning to cough to the point of gagging. He is doing this very frequently and we don't know why...I thought about taking him to the emergency vet but wasn't sure...any help??

2. Take his temp and call the Emergency Clinic |
|
and talk to the vet there.
I always temp before calling, because it's just another piece of information for them to use in assessing whether you should rush in or can wait till morning for your regular vet.
Also, if he's coughing anything up, try to collect it into a plastic bag to take it along with you. It's hard to get snot into a bag, if he's coughing up any of that, but use a spatula or something to scrape it up with. And if you have a stool sample, take that along, too, just for fun.
Good luck.
