Some of you may recall that I was trying to buy an old, fixer upper house that looked like a really good deal.
Another person put in an offer at the same time I did and it turned out to be better than mine. That really disappointed me because the house was located in my home town and I have a lot of family and friends here. But I can't afford most places around here unless I rent. Well, back to the drawing board.

I'm very sorry to know you've been disappointed. Exactly the same thing happened to me when I was searching for a house last time. We found an absolutely perfect home but somebody else put in an offer two hours before us and it was immediately accepted. I was very, very bitter about the bad luck... but without question we ended up in a much better situation. I hope something comes your way soon. Hang in there.

My realtor was thinking that the other party might be an investor who was paying cash. I don't think my offer was bad. They were asking $42,900 for the place and I offered $40,000 plus they pay closing costs. The house was owned by a mortgage company and I was pre-approved through them and even promised to finance the house through them even though the interest rate wasn't as low as it could be.

I've asked my realtor to check up on it now and then just in case the deal falls through.

I guess I'm not in any hurry. Mom and dad say I can stay with them as long as I want. So I might just keep on workin' like a workin' man do and save up some cash. I still have some debt to pay off as well. So I might as well take care of that and raise my credit score even higher. I found out from the mortgage company that my average score from the credit bureaus is 740. Not bad for a schizophrenic truck driver.
