I'd say Full House. The worst "sitcom" in television history. It wasn't even a sitcom. It was a half-hour, unrealistic, lovey-dovey circle jerk.

Oh GOD, that show was the worst.

34. When you think about it - what a sick relationship they had.
Example: Lucy tells Ricky she wants to buy a hat. Ricky says they can't afford it.

Normal response: Lucy thinks, "Well, I'm disappointed, but we have to live within our means."

Lucy response: "I've got to find some way to trick Ricky into letting me get that hat!"

Not only that - but each of them took fiendish glee in manipulating the other one into humiliating, often dangerous situations in order to "teach (them) a lesson".

No, thank you. That relationship was perverse.

69. There was definitely a sadistic undertone to their relationship.
MAD TV had a few nice parodies of the show. One of the parodies had Ricky "kidnapping" Little Ricky and getting a black member of his band to pretend to be the kidnapper. Lucy and Ethel wound up killing the "kidnapper" and putting him into a vat of sulphuric acid. Then Ricky walked in with Little Ricky, laughing. "HAH HAH HAH. We tricked you, Luttee!" "Oh, Ricky!"

74. What about the Simpsons' parody?
You don't actually see the screen, just Homer and Bart watching the TV:

Lucy voice "WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

Fred voice "You hit'er pretty hard there, Rick!"

70. What about "Life With Lucy,"
Lucille Ball's disastrous attempt at a comeback in 1986? She was maybe 75 years old, and looked like a corpse with a red wig. They even brought poor old Gale Gordon back, who was at least 80 at the time. It was an embarrassing TV show which lasted maybe 12 episodes.

14. MORTON DOWNEY JR.
Not to be confused with Robert, Morton's brief show in the eighties may well have been the vanguard of hate-spewing right-wing blather. At the time it was considered a freak show, but it is the father (in some ways) of what Rush, O'Reilly and the rest have become.

Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 02:34 PM by Beaker
I've never seen a single episode of "full house", so in my perspective, "erasing" it from history would have absolutely no impact...however, seeing as it was on for a fairly long run, it must have actually entertained a great many people...why would you think that retroactively depriving people of a show they liked but you didn't, when you could have simply changed the channel in the first place, is a good thing??

40. COPS, without a doubt...
Not only was it the model for all reality TV which followed, but it's so fucking offensive. It's racist, classist, and frankly, brutish. It convicted those people who were on it without trial, and exploited the category of "news programming" to use peoples' images and audio without permission or compensation. It polarises complex issues into black and white (no pun intended), where the establishment is always clean-shaven, just, and right.

I would really like to remove "Ally McBeal" from history. My husband liked the show during the 1st season because of the special effects (Ally's thoughts). However, we soon got tired of Ally's whining because she did not have a man and her unprofessional behavior. I really disliked her cute little facial expressions.
