9. This is my dream house...
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 03:15 PM by Rattlesnake
and I want it in Colorado.

Here's the general specs:

This 3,500-square-foot home features lodgepole pine logs, inside and out. The main level houses the great room, kitchen, dining room, master suite, laundry-utility room, entry hall and a powder room. The lower level is set up as a mini apartment for guests, offering two bedrooms, two baths, a kitchenette, mud room, and hobby room-office. A finished basement and 12-foot-wide decks provide more living space.

18. Really? I'm envious.
I couldn't fathom how much something like that costs. I'm guessing it's around the $400,000+ mark easily.

10. One thing that the builders of old had as an advantage over us today
is that back then, they were willing to let a lot of people die in construction.

Nowadays there'd be all sorts of lawsuits.

If railroads were invented today, we wouldn't be able to get them across the country anywhere near as fast as they did back in the 1800s. The Great Wall wouldn't get built. All sorts of things would be tougher - heck, look at how much even our space program has to worry about deaths, as compared to the exploration vessels of the 1600s-1900s.

Anyway, end of rant.

An amazing structure, with a doubly amazing location.

is very similar, though I don't know if it's a total log cabin.

My brother is building a log cabin this year.

13. I like that one! Amazing inside.
I'd love to go back since they've added new stuff from when i was a kid. But even as a child, I was very, very impressed, especially by all the music boxes (and we're talking music boxes with life-size mechanicals playing, etc., for anyone who isn't familiar with house on the rock).

But they want like $25 or so to get in. Forget that.

Funny story - I doing a search at work one day on the name of the guy who designed the house, and lo and behold, he has the same name as a porn star. Not knowing that, I just clicked on the first few search results (doing the right click and "open in new window") and my screen started filling up with many, many porn popups...mad scramble to kill all the windows! I had to go down a few pages in the search before I had a link that wasn't about the porn guy...embarassing.
