So I'm pondering switching from the Ipod to the Creative Zen... good idea or bad idea? |
|
I saw that the new generation Zens are nearly $100 cheaper than the current generation iPods and I've heard from several iPod owners that the new ones aren't very good because of the smaller size. So would it be worth it or not?

I love my iPod, it's a 5th gen I think. 30gig with video. Mine is scratched by now, but still keeps spitting out the tunes. I've had it for about a year with no probs.

2. Yeah, the only problem I have is that I own the Bose Sounddock |

That thing is fantastic. I'd hate to give it up by switching MP3 players. A lot to think about...

If I were buying one today, I'd probably take a very hard look at the Zen Vision M. I got to play with one recently and it was very nice and easy to use. It also fit my primary requirement which is: "Must be operable from within a pocket without looking at it". My current 5G 60Gb iPod Video does this very well, and so did the Vision M. If I didn't already own the 5G it would be a difficult choice. There's certainly not enough there to justify me switching, but certainly worth me recommending to others. The 60Gb M is $80 cheaper than the equivalent iPod, and the added features of the tuner and voice recorder are a plus that the iPod doesn't offer (I carry an RCA Lyra when I need to do voice recording).

It aint broken yet, but it's taken a lot of abuse from me and I fear that it will go any day now.

I bought it about 3 years ago (which makes it ancient by today's technology standards) I got it mainly because it was cheaper than the Ipod and I don't regret my purchase at all. It was worth every penny, I'm thinking of upgrading within the year to maybe the 60 gig video zen. The only drawback is that Ipod's have more "toys" to go with it
