to act as a 'Superdrive' in a G4? Or should one go with a firewire based one?
I heard the Panasonic A06 something or other is a good one.

I got the Superdrive built in, and already had a QPS DVD+RW firewire drive from my previous computer.
I find the firewire drive burns faster, but some software (like DVD Studio Pro, for example), won't recognize any drive but the internal one. You can play DVDs from the firewire drive, but I have to tell the DVD player to open the TS_Video folder on the DVD. On the Superdrive, they play automatically.
They both read and burn DVD-Rs and CD-Rs. The firewire one can burn DVD+RWs, however the Superdrive can only read DVD+RWs.

4. My problem is that I didn't get the G4 with the Superdrive........ |

already included, and now I am having to create DVD's of my own. I've been transfering my projects via a firewire drive to a friend's to do the burning, but I want to be able to burn whenever I want to and not have to depend on my aforementioned friend's machine (not to mention her patience).
