3. Wishful thinking on the part of Vikings fans.
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 10:09 AM by HuckleB
Every Packer fan I know is eating well, sleeping well, doing well, thank you very much. It was just a game: A game most Packer fans hardly expected to even see the team playing a couple weeks ago. It was a pleasant surprise. If anything, we're euphoric about the future, with the possibility of an improved defense leading to bigger and better things.

12. Well, you're right.-

"There was no Super Bowl in 1960." It was just "The Championship" then. So I guess you could say this will be a first.

25. For what it's worth.
I've always wondered why so many folks count Super Bowl wins and appearances as something different than Championships and championship game appearances. The Super Bowl is really just a promoter's term for Championship Game, after all.

17. Take off the green-and-yellow glasses...
Favre's not the player he once was. Well, thinking about that, he's always made boneheaded decisions at certain times, so maybe he's still the player he was.

This year, the Pack WRs played way over their heads. Javon Walker is on the verge of being a bust - his strutting and inattentiveness may have cost his team a game-winning TD. The secondary is suffering (allowing a conversion on 4th and 26?!?). Ahman Green is about the lone bright spot on the team, and he still hasn't cured his fumbling problem.

You can try to be optimistic, but I doubt the Packers will make the playoffs next year.

Vikes have 20 million under the cap for next year, Packers less than 4. Who will have an easier time filling the holes?

18. Walker ran an in, Favre threw a post.
On the interception, that is. I'm not saying it wasn't Favre's fault, I'm not saying it was. Just that it's not so simple as "Favre thew a boneheaded pass" -- he could have thrown the right pass, while Walker ran the wrong route.

Anyway, I think the Packers will make the playoffs again next year if for no other reason than the division is very weak. I am not optimistic for the future, though; because Favre is getting old, and there has been no real push from Sherman to begin grooming his successor.

22. Division
I think the Vikes will turn the corner next year. We were a couple of bad coaching calls away from running away with the division (calls eerily similar to the ones that lost the Philly game for GB). Opening the season with a win in the renovated Lambeau was a pretty impressive accomplishment, despite the games dropped down the stretch.

Yes, Detroit and Chicago will remain the punching bags, but GB will have an even harder time winning the division next year.

19. Blah. Blah. Blah.
The Vikings are a 3-7 team. The Packers a 7-2 team. Who's got more holes? Oh, and who is better at personnel decisions, in the first place?

As for the Packer receivers, you couldn't be more off base. But Minnesota dreaming is all right with me. It never hurt anyone.

20. Let go of your bitterness.
Packers 10-6 (Victory #10 thanks to a Denver team taking the week off.) - A 2-game drop from last year.
Vikings 9-7 - A 3-game improvement from last year.

Both teams have significant holes. Who is better at personnel decisions? I dunno, the Packers have had their share of draft (Jamal Reynolds) and free-agent (Joe Johnson) busts.

And I'll stand by my Packers receivers statement.

45. Now is the winter of our discontent
Not! We won the division for the second year in a row. We swept the Bears. (I would be happy if the 2 wins in a 2-14 season were that) There was alot of excitment at the end of the season. The Packers are still America's team (Bratwurst communism-BOOYAH!!)

McNabb is making Rush look like an idiot (along with our defensive 11), so thats a bonus.

There's always next year. Like my grandma would say, "smelt season will be here soon"
