1. Ya, I agree with you
I don't know what to make of this situation. I see two scenario's, both bad. First, Marino could actaully be only a figurehead. In that case, the duo of Wanny and Spielman will be making the decisions. From the press release, it sounds like Spielman will be the one in charge of player personnel. I guess we can look forward to the drafting of more Jamar Fletchers and passing up guys like Anquan Boldin or Tyrone Calico. And lets not forget the free agent signing of Derrius Thompson.

If Marino is actually heavily involved, that scares me as well. I loved Dan as a quarterback, but I'm not sure about his experience as an executive. I doubt he can become another Jerry West. More likely, he'll become another Matt Millen.

I can't fathom what Huizenga was thinking with his move. From what I've been hearing on talk radio, fans aren't enamored with this move. Most see it as a way to bring Marino back into the organization and get some good publicity. I've been racking my brain to discern what has actually changed in the last months. Basically, Speilman was elevated a notch, while Wanny went down ones. I just think we missed a great opportunity. I would have loved Ron Wolf, but Mueller was a good choice as well.

I have to say, you called it from the start. If they kept Spielman as GM, nothing really changed. I can't ever imagine Spielman doing something that Wannstedt disagreed with, far less firing him.

Not a good day for Dolphins fans. :(
