I like "Everybody Loves Raymond", but...
I hate his mom! God, she pisses me off!

I'd have changed the locks on the doors, and established firm boundaries long ago, or moved the fuck away.

Oh, and is Patricia Heaton one fine MILF, or what?

surgery...gotta do it if you're in the biz!

18. Mainly just face stuff--removing wrikles, etc...
...nothing like anose job or anything that really alters her looks. Just trying to look younger in a biz that worships youth!

20. From Lady's Home Journal
http://www.lhj.com/lhj/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/lhj/story/data/everybodylovespatricia_01212003.xml

Soon enough, though, Heaton, 45, switches gears and talks about her own plastic surgery, which has included a tummy tuck (much needed, she says, after her four sons were all delivered by cesarean) and an accompanying breast lift. She also raises her chin to show where some loose skin had been lifted. She really does look terrific, thin and toned. She is wearing a sleeveless black top and Burberry plaid pants, which -- in the true test -- do not amplify her behind. On the contrary, you can barely find it.

26. I'd still say that's only due to the ravages of time, and acceptable
Face it, the biz she's in requires that stuff....she's 45 and roles to women that age don't come around every day.

10. Yeah, she's pretty radically and outspokenly right-wing.
I agree the mom character is infuriating, but the actress, Doris Roberts is excellent, as is Peter Boyle.

I don't really have time for the show, which is fine, because frankly I don't love Raymond. His mother may be infuriating, but he's a thoughtless, insensitive, self-obsessed, whining jerk of a person. It's Brad Garrett that's worth watching.

Brad Garrett is vastly underrated and underutlized. I wish more stories were about him.

5. My feelings are kind of reversed...I like Doris, but P. Heaton comes
off as much too shrill at times.

Anyway, I don't think it's been as good this year as in the past.

BTW, Patricia Heaton is a Repuke, but at least she's a fairly non-offensive one--haven't seen her donating large sums of money like Kelsey Grammar.

I avoid this show like the plague because of this loud, boorish, unfunny "comedian".

13. I think Patricia Heaton is hot -
but -

she's got kind of a wingnut tendency.

Example: She walked out of some awards ceremony one time, decrying the indecency and vulgarity being displayed there. Yet - she had no compunction about talking to any and every interviewer available about her boob job!

She is hot, though.

29. Nah, it ain't easy comedy--Friends is easy comedy--
scenes that take 30 seconds are the easiest on television--that actors and actresses on friends show on filming day without having read the script. And they can get away with it because they only have one or two lines before the next scene.

28. I take your point, really. But this one doesn't make
the women look any better.

The mother's a pain in the ass, the wife is a manipulative nag, and the new DIL/SIL is an insipid pushover. It's a smorgasbord of extraordinarily neurotic people who've taken it to it's most annoying extreme.

36. I Like The Mom and Dad; Can't Stand Heaton
The mother character is a caricature of a typical overbearing Italian mother who coddles her sons. And Peter Boyle is a riot.
