Can anyone recommend a good Portuguese language movie??? |
|
I am currently learning to speak portuguese, and I would like to rent a Portuguese language movie, for fun and to see if I can pick up a few words. Anything you recommend?
Peace,

It is Brazilian, so perhaps not what you are looking for, but a great movie.

about a bitter, cynicall woman who ends up taking a road trip with a motherless boy who is trying to find his father. Excellent, and you get to see different parts of Brazil.
An oldie but goodie (and seasonally relevant) is Black Orpheus, which is the ancient Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice retold against a background of the Carnival (coming up in February) in Rio. (It also provides the definitive answer to Lamebrain Bush's question about whether there are blacks in Brazil. :-) )
Xica da Silva is about a slave revolt in the 19th century.
Pixote is the story of a boy living on the streets.
