After 9 college visits, my daughter finally decided! |
|
Looks like she's going to be a "Lumberjack" at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Guess I'll be wearing crimson (son at 'Bama) and purple this fall.
Axe 'em 'jacks!

I hope your daughter has a great time....would her school and your son's school ever play against each other? If so, then what? Do you wear both purple and crimson? :)

2. Thanks...I don't think there is any way they could possibly play one another, but... |
|
She came very close to choosing University of Arkansas (they gave her in state tuition for her grades). The 'Bama - Razorback game would have been an interesting affair!

you'd find some way to work it out. ;) My Tarheel mother and Wolfpack dad are still married to each other after 25 years, so it's definitely possible! :hi:
Edited because I'm an idiot and forgot to add: Congratulations to your daughter! :applause:

7. Well, the fact that neither one of them is really into sports helps quite a bit... |

Congrats!
Another one out of the nest, sort of!
Any more at home?
Will she be far from you?

5. She will be the last one out of the nest |
|
Just her and her big brother, who's been gone for a couple of years now.
She will be about 3 1/2 hours away. I think it's good for a kid to go away to college (although I'll miss her), but with her medical issue (type 1 diabetes) I'm glad she won't be TOO far away.

12. Perfect. Far away enough for 'independence'. |
|
Close enough to come home for the week-end once in a while. That was our criteria after her first year 1000 miles from home. We were all unhappy.

My son is much further from home, and thriving, but he is such a different personality type than my daughter. I think she'll do better just as you said - having the perfect distance from home for her.

Funny. Living in Texas, I never would have guessed in a million years that's where he would have wound up. They offered him a full scholarship, he visited several times, and finally told me that's where he felt most comfortable and at home.
He loves it there. He's got some great friends there, and is doing very well academically, and was even able to get involved in published research. There was so little I knew about that school before he checked it out (other than their football program). It certainly turned out to be the perfect choice for him.
