What did you have for dinner tonight?
It's cold and windy here so when I got back from the gym I had breakfast for dinner. Bacon, toast, and a big pile of grits. I guess not very healthy with all that butter but really a good stick to your ribs meal in the winter. I feel happily full.

24. No
but I'll look for them. There's rarely been a cracker or bread type thing that I haven't liked. I even like good old plain saltines. I had some Carr's wheatmeal "biscuits" and boursin cheese for dinner last night and saltines and sharp cheddar for lunch today.

home made mash potato's with chives, asparagus, fresh applesauce and spinach salad. For desert, chocholate chip cookies (made last night with the kids).

Oh, I forgot, I baked a loaf of bread too. I cheated...used my bread machine but...I used King Arthur's flour.....unbleached, unbromated... The best in America and from Vermont.....

It was mighty tasty. We heated up some new wrap flat breads in the oven as a nan substitute which worked out way better then pita bread.

19. Shrimp
An old friend is visiting on Saturday and I think I'll splurge and get some shrimp and do the grilled proscuitto wrapped shrimp. I still have a little fresh flat leaf parsley growing in a pot. Maybe I should just boil the shrimp to have with cocktail sauce or in a salad with gorgonzola. I don't know but you definitely have me thinking about shrimp.

42. grilled chicken breast
marinated in sesame ginger mandarin orange sauce; salad with several kinds of greens in a fat free Santa Fe sundried tomato and chipotle dressing; mashed rutabaga; vanilla ice cream

Kind of a little of this and a little of that. The rutabaga was left over from the other night. I was on a long phone conversation, so dinner was more picking than it was sitting down to enjoy something that actually all went together.

44. Grecian Chicken.
Boneless chicken breasts cut up, marinated several hours in oregano, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil, then grilled. Rice-a-roni rice pilaf, some rolls. A tossed salad to start and some wine.

It's a favorite, one of the two or three things I make that everyone in the house (five of us) will eat. And a friend stopped by for dinner and she liked it also.

68. Tonight's dinner
is a little more real dinner like. Trout almandine, my favorite broccoli recipe (steam florets just a little while, saute about 10 chopped cloves of garlic in olive oil, toss florets in the oil and garlic, toss with some fresh grated parm. reggiano, asiago, or some combination of the two), rice pilaf from a box but still good, two pieces of roasted garlic bread toasted. Dessert: this great hot milk concoction with coffee syrup (I cold press it from Luzianne coffee and chicory) and two squares of dark semi-sweet chocolate. Most elaborate meal I've cooked for myself in months and I have leftovers for tomorrow.
