Yep, that would return us to our pre-* stupor, pretty quickly. I like Dukakis but I'm not sure that he even got excited about his own campaign. I ended up voting for Jesse and the Rainbow Coalition in that primary.

I still remember young as I was, watching the early returns and predictions, and thinking, whats wrong with this country!

4. I'm not a Dean supporter |

but other than being from the NE, there isn't much similarity between Gov Dean and Dukakis. I'll be pretty quick to admit that Dean knows how to campaign and will fight * tooth and nail -- I'm not sure that will be enough, but he isn't going down to anyone without a fight.

That would have to have been a properly electorally distributed 4.4%. He was landslided in the EC, sadly.

Take his 112 EV's, and add 168 (in 1980 census) from the states where he got 46% or higher but lost (these are mostly big states, including CA, MI, PA, IL), and he would have beat that other guy.

8. ...would have won in 1988. |

Since then, most of the people who remembered the Great Depression died off. That's critically important.

14. and all chimp would have |
|
to do would be to say 'Willie Horton' and show that picture of Dukakis riding around like 'Rocky the Flying Squirrel' in that tank and he wouldn't even have to steal another election to continue on in the WH. :-(

And I still have a few of my old "Caucus for Dukakis" buttons around here somewhere. I busted my ass for him in 1988, and how did he repay us?
He rolled over and played dead all summer! After the convention, he was ahead of Papa Shrub by 17%!!! But he did fuckall the summer of 1988 and got shredded.
He started to come back in late October when he hammered Bush on liberal issues, but it was too late. Oh well at least that twisted old fcuk Lloyd Bentsen did become Veep.
